Dennis R. McDonald, 79 of Swedeburg, NE passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025 at his home. He was born December 25, 1945 in Lincoln, NE to Chandler and Lorelei (Linderman) McDonald. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a proud veteran.
Dennis was married to Carol (Pacula) McDonald for 50 years this year, one of his proudest accomplishments. He was a father to Kyle, Joe, Austin and his daughter-in-law, Tatiana McDonald all of whom he loved very much and a grandfather to Alexia, Ben and Chris McDonald all of whom he truly cherished. He is also survived by his sister, Cindy Tagliapietra.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim McDonald and Richard Harris.
Dennis was a proud veteran of the Green Berets who served three tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the MACV/SOG who operated deep in enemy territory earning him a Bronze Star for his accomplishments.
Dennis was a recognized Nebraska artist with his woodburning and his artwork winning several prizes. He was an avid bird lover, a non-stop reader of novels who was always donating books to the public library. Dennis was heavily involved with the Lakota Indian Tribe organizing clothing and jacket drives where he and his wife made 14 trips with donations. Dennis was also a Cowboy raising Texas Longhorn cattle for many years of his life.
