Fern Seewald Obituary

Waseca, Minnesota - FERN ALVINA (SCHWARZ) SEEWALD, age 99, of Waseca passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2025 at Lakeshore Rehabilitation Center.

Born on November 3, 1925 in Le Sueur County, Fern was the daughter of Christian and Matilda (Dahn) Schwarz. She graduated from Le Center High School. She was united in marriage to Willard Seewald on December 29, 1948 in Le Sueur County. Fern worked as a secretary for Selective Service System and Waseca Public Schools for forty-eight years until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca. She was also a member of Waseca American Legion Auxiliary, and a life member of the Waseca VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, cribbage, crosswords, and following Minnesota sports.

Fern is survived by her children, Gregory (Rochelle) Seewald of Prior Lake, Scott (Patricia) Seewald of Burnsville, James (Jenise) Seewald of Waseca; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Seewald; parents, Christian and Matilda Schwarz; and sisters, Alice, Esther, and Doris.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 2, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
