On Monday, February 13, at his residence, A.J. Beard of Fairfax, VA. Beloved husband of Jeanette Beard; dear father of Alan Beard and his wife, Anita. He is also survived by two sisters, Bonnie Pate and Irene Martin; his brother, Leon Beard; his grandchildren, Sheri Nelson, Shelley Gaddis and Ashley Beard; his great-granddaughter, Brooke Nelson. Family will receive friends at EVERLY FUNERAL HOME, 10565 Main St., Fairfax, VA, on Monday, February 20, from 2 to 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 21, at the Fairfax Baptist Church, 10831 Main St., at 11 a.m. Interment Fairfax City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the the Alzheimer's Association, 11240 Waples Mill Rd., Suite 402, Fairfax, VA 22030.

I'll always remember our occasional discussions, your sense of fairness and objectivity, whether it was related to our gun club, or an opinion on some Navy project I was working on that I mentioned. For all our sake, I sure hope that there are skeet fields in heaven. A.J., you were always "tops" in my book.
