ALAN DREWER Obituary
ALAN G. DREWER (Age 57)
Alan G. Drewer passed away on July 30, 2015 of complications from cardiac arrest. He was a long time resident of Oak Hill, VA. Born in Newport News, VA, Alan was raised in Arlington, VA, attended Yorktown High School and graduated from the College of William and Mary and Stonier Graduate School of Banking. Alan was Senior Vice President, Commercial Lending at Washington First Bank. His banking career spanned several decades as he served as Chief Real Estate Lending Officer at Virginia Heritage Bank and Senior Vice President, Commercial Lending at The Business Bank. Prior to that, he worked at First Horizon National Corporation, Chevy Chase Bank and First American Bank. Alan was predeceased by his parents, Milton L. Drewer, Jr. and Elizabeth "Susie" Drewer; a brother, William Drewer; and sister-in-law, Eleanor McAdams Drewer. Alan is survived by his loving wife, Lora Durkin Drewer and was an adored father of three sons from his first marriage, Matthew Drewer of San Diego, CA, Patrick and Joseph Drewer of Falls Church, VA; his brother, Milton L. Drewer, III of Bluffton, SC; sister, Carol Drewer Mortensen of Naples, FL; and sister-in-law, Sharon Darlington Drewer of Arlington, VA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Alan was an avid Washington Capitals fan and passionate about his golf game. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 4 at 10:30 a.m. at Pender United Methodist Church, 12401 Alder Woods Drive, Fairfax, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Inc., 249 Windward Passage, Clearwater, FL 33767 or at www.seewinter.com.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Alan's passing. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. We shared many college football stories during our days together at First Horizon, and Alan was my guest a few times at my golf club in Memphis. My condolences to the entire Drewer family.

We'll miss 'Big Al'!
We grew up playing Arlington Optimist baseball, then football and basketball at Williamsburg Jr. High and Yorktown High School. When he was at William and Mary playing football, could count on seeing him courtside at the basketball games.
Knew that family was very important to him and he spent a lot of time with them.

I sit tonight and toast Alan Drewer and remember his great presence on football field, playing hoops at Milt's house, for Yorktown H.S. team and after high school, working with him and with his dad Milt who hired me at First American, and then seeing him in my neighborhood at Franklin Farm. I will miss seeing him and talking old stories. God Bless Lora and the family.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I was Mr. Drewer's dental hygienist for the past five years. He was one of my favorite patients. It was a pleasure to see him on my schedule every six months. Mr. Drewer will truly be missed at my office.

We have so many fond memories of Alan from the heyday of the Chantilly Sharks, Oakton Cougar football, and many other teams where we cheered for our sons from the sidelines with the Drewer family over many fun-filled years.

I just met Alan on July 24th while we played golf at International CC. We road together for 4 hours. We really got to know one another and talked about family, golf, retirement, his beach house in Rehoboth, his lot in Bluffton and so on. I was shocked and saddened to hear this news. I feel like i know the entire family and no one knows me. All i can mention is that he loved his children, and his wife very much. Please know that all of you, his extended family and friends have lost a great man, friend, father and just a nice person. I am happy that i got to know him a little and sad that i did not meet him sooner in my life. Prayers for your family as you grieve your loss.
