Marilyn, Mindy, Larry and Richard, etal
My condolences to your entire family. I am so sorry to hear the news. Alan and all the Klevits opened the door to the art world for me nearly thirty years ago. I have certainly traveled a different road in my life having known Alan. He was a force and will be long remembered.
Take care of yourselves. It has been too long since I have crossed your paths. All the best.

To my dear cousin Patty:
I was very sorry to hear of Alan's passing. He was indeed very courageous to battle cancer for so long. Your loss is my loss too. I was remembering the first time I met Alan. It was at the Rice Lake cabin for a 4th of July picnic. Different family members were entrusted to roast the meat for the occasion. Alan gladly accepted part of the responsibility, and his rosemary infused pork roast was enjoyed by all. Looking back to that weekend and the fun times we had, should bring a smile to your face. Alan had a love for life and the beautiful things life offers. It was fitting that at the time of his death, our family was all gathered again at the Rice Lake cabin for another 4th of July picnic. When we heard of his death, we gathered together and said a prayer for him, and for you, and for Alan's family. Memories of Alan will live on forever in you and his family. I want you to know that even though your family is so far away, we want to comfort and console you. Hopefully you can come to the Rice Lake cabin again soon to refresh your spirit.
Love to you always, Marie

Dearest Patty,
My dear little sister, I am so very sorry for your loss. I wish I could be there with you to help you through this difficult time. I am sending you my love and support by way of Sister Joanne and Janet. Some of the hugs they are giving you are from me!
Alan was always your cheerleader, but remember we in your family are too. We were doing that long before he started. You can lean on us anytime and any way. When you are too tired to lean, we will hold you in our hearts and our arms until you can stand-alone. But even then we will be your cheerleaders.
Please know the homestead is also your home and are welcome to come and live here with me.
Your loving big sister,
Margie
