Died June 17, 2005 at 97 years, five months. He resided at the Crestview Lutheran Home, Columbia Heights, MN. Albert was born in Eveleth, MN, the youngest of six sons to Frank and Ida Damberg. After 32 years of public service with the Bureau of Ships, U.S. Navy Department, Washington, DC, he retired in 1973. Albert graduated from Eveleth Junior College, Eveleth, MN, and Hamline University, St. Paul, MN, in 1933. During his college career, he earned 10 sports letters in hockey, track and football. In 1940, Albert married Elfie Peterson of Strandburg, SD. She preceded him in death in 1979. Albert is survived by three sons William (Loveland, CO), Daniel (Crownsville, MD), and Michael (Hanover, MD); six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held July 28, 10 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, County Rd B and Lexington Rd, Roseville, MN. Inurnment will be held July 29, 10 a.m., at the Bethel Baptist Cemetery, Strandburg, SD. As a former employee at Crest View, I came to know Albert and enjoy his wonderful smile. He was a delightful man and I wish I had met him years earlier. He will be missed by all that knew him.
