Amice Norris Obituary
On Monday, June 19, 2006, AMICE V. NORRIS of Washington, D.C. Loving daughter of Jesse P. Norris; step-daughter of Beverly C. Norris and daughter of Georgette Bracey. Also survived by one sister, Bernadette Bracey; one step-sister, LaShaon N. Ford; grandmothers, Betty Bracey and Shirley Norris and a host of other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends at the New Horizon Christian Faith Church, 2211 Varnum St., Mt. Rainier, MD on Sunday, June 25, from 5 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m. Interment Monday, June 26, 10 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD. Arrangements by STRICKLAND FUNERAL SERVICES.

Amice is in a much better place than all of us and that pleases me. These words, therefore, go out to her family. Rick and Georgette, we go back a LONG way -- when times were simple and life had a slow and easy feel to it. There are absolutely no words that I can express to ease your pain, I know that. But do know that my prayers are with you. When your thoughts really get you down, just remember the GOOD ole days. My best to you two and your families.

Amice, you were a sister that I really wanted to get to know a little bit better. You gave me a feel good presence when ever you were around or whenever I spoke to you. Your legacy will be shown through your loved ones. I promise i will do my best to take care of Bernadette. You are one of the main reasons why we are still together today. Amice, the truth is finally kicking in now. There is no text message when I take my lunch break, We didn't hook up on 7/4. I am really missing you. I would do anything for one more zerbert. For once, I would like to be called butt face just one more time. I really do miss you Amiche, but I am proud a little, you have arrived what I am trying to accomplished, to be where my true love is. I miss you, but I don't want you to come back, can't be that selfish. I will just try my hardest to do right so when the time comes, I can see you again.

Mice, Mice, Mice.... I heard the news and wept. I have not seen you since I took your picture on your Mom's plaid couch when you were about 3 or 4 months old when your Mom and I lived on Fort Totten/Hawaii Avenue, N.E.; we went to St. Cecilia's together. I can only say that while I have not seen you in a long while and now I won't see you, you have always been in my heart, you and your Mom. We spent lots of good times together, you and my twin sons, Dwight & Dwayne (only one year younger than you) and your Mom and I. I know that you are in a better place, and I know that your family will miss you, but God has a plan for us all; we have to trust in that and know that He knows best. I will keep them in my prayers. (Rick/George, get in contact with me, I would love for you to have these wonderful baby pictures of Mice .....)

To live in the joy that Amice gave everyone was the best that anyone could ask for. Her crazy laugh , a smile that makes u smile, a look she would give to catch ur attention and just the open and kind nature she shared with others was the gift that she gave to us all. I will miss my dearest cousin and know that she is not far from my heart.

I can still hear your voice and imagine the moments we shared together....Our common greeting was to say to each other, "Hey Girl, I like your style"! That was OUR thing! :) I regret that I never got a chance to elaborate because we would always move on to something else. But, I always wanted to tell you what I meant by that: You were smooth! I mean, you exuded confidence and sincerity. Your life was a testimony and you never even had to say a word. Your actions said enough. You had experienced God for yourself and would share Him with us through your hugs and kisses! You ARE a wonderful example of God's love. You had a lot of style with you, girl! And, I always admired you for it....I guess we'll have to put our shopping trip on a raincheck. I'll catch up with you soon and we can make a day of it!

Amice & I sat next to each other on a flight to Jabbok's woman's retreat to Florida a few years ago. She expressed her fear of flying. I told her, don't worry, every time you get scared grab my hand. We held hands the entire flight. Just when we thought our journey was over, to both of our surprises we had to transfer to a tiny crock plane. She took one look at the plane and screamed. All we could do is laugh.
When we returned from the woman's retreat she greeted me in the church lobby with a warm exuberant smile, and her trademark hug. I will miss her sweetness and her hugs.

Amice was the most genuine and loving person I knew. Her ability to make you laugh was incredible, and her personal style was second to none. Amice had such a dry sense of humor (hillarious) and I will especially miss the way she gave me Zurberts (kisses) on the cheek. I can't imagine anyone other than her doing that...I will miss that terribly.
I was so proud of Amice stepping out into adulthood and it was an honor to watch her grow. As strangers we would sit by each other on the metro and after 7 and 1/2 years we had a sisterhood that is irreplaceable. Amice was my friend and I loved her dearly.
We were alike in many ways, but most of all in that we both had an unquestionable love for our Daddy's and our families; which will always remain.

Me and Mease spent alot of time together, especially when I first got saved. I was sad when I heard the news of your passing it was so unreal, my friend is gone. No more hugs and no more giggling. I missed the times we had share because we shared some of the same passions. I guess I took our time for granted. And thought will always have tomorrow but now I truly understand that tomorrow isn't promise...
