Mickey Moore was my government teacher at Hammond High School in 1961-62. She was a wonderful teacher who made learning fun since she had such a great sense of humor. I learned quite a lot in her class and started to be interested in current events. She seemed to really care about her students. When I chose a career, I wanted to teach social studies and ended up teaching U.S. history and English at the high school level. I think that choice was greatly influenced by Mrs. Moore. One of my sisters also had her as a teacher. When our mother died, she came to the memorial service to support our family. She was not only a great teacher but was also a wonderful human being.

When she was my history teacher at Hammond, she was Miss Michelson. I most remember her wicked sense of humor and how she made
history come alive with wonderful stories. Those students that got to know her as a friend were lucky indeed.

I hope "Mickey" crosses paths in heaven with Dick Aubry. (He will probably just be passing through). I'm sure that meeting will spark another lively conversation ending with Mickey trying to get Dick to become a Democrat. The two of them would be an inspiration in our acrimonious political world because they both eagerly welcomed hearing the 'other' side. Rest in Peace, Mickey. Love, Mo Aubry

Mickey Moore was at the top of my list of wonderful teachers at Hammond H.S. when I was in the class of 1962. She was so engaging--I looked forward to her class every day. I always think of her fondly.

Mickey was far and away the best teacher our class ever had! Even after we graduated her influence continued to be felt. She was a great supporter of our reunions, attending many but sadly not our last, held only on October 21-22, 2022. She was remembered with a HUGE card with many heartfelt messages.

Mickey Moore was a teacher, a neighbor and friend. Superior educator, quick and kind. I am one of a cast of thousands that passed through her classroom and truly blessed.

Mickey challenged, inspired, and encouraged us as students. She required our best efforts and accepted nothing less. Through her teaching she conveyed her high expectations for us as people. I believe that was what she was really teaching, but she used instruction in Government as the vehicle. I've kept her and her life lessons with me ever since--and it turns out--- so did the rest of us who were privileged to know Mickey Moore.

Miss Mickelson was one of the best teachers I EVER had in all my school years. She taught me Government at Hammond High School in 1960. Her class was always so instructional, and we learned so much from her. She made going to class fun as we all experiences her wonderful sense of humor!!!!! She made learning fun! I will forever be grateful to her for bringing so much to my years at Hammond High School. As a testimony to how much she meant to so many, she of our classmates kept up with her until the day she passed away. Not many can say that of a teacher they had! Here's to you MissM. Gone but definitely NOT FORGOTTEN!!!!!! Rest in God' heavenly arms!!!!!

I was fortunate to get to know Mickey several years ago when I hosted she, Dick and Mo Aubry and Kassy for a luncheon. She was a delightful conversationalist who asked at a point which class of hers I had taken. I replied, quite sheepishly, that I was never smart enough to be in her class. She got a real chuckle out of that. Few people pass through life positively touching so many and at a tender point in those lives.
A life well lived, Mickey!
