I met Bernard Kalb when I and three fellow elementary school teachers sublet his 79th street apartment in Manhattan. To explain why he was going to Asia he took out a globe and gave us 22 year olds an amazing history lesson. I´m 86 now and still remember that lesson!

Mr. Kalb and his brother instilled in me a fondness for the news business. I respected them, as did so many others. What a life they lived!
