Bernice Beckman Obituary

BECKMAN BERNICE ANDELMAN BECKMAN On October 9, 2007 at the home of her son, Howard Beckman, in Rochester, NY. She is survived by her sons Howard (Ellen Leopold) and Steven (Rachel Ritvo) of Kensington, MD; grandchildren, Liza, Renee, Alice, Micah, Emily (Andrew Ewalt) and Louis; sisters, Blanche Josephson and Dena Radin of Orchard Cove, Canton, MA and many close relatives. She was the loving and devoted wife of Louis Beckman from 1945 until his death in 1977. Mrs. Beckman grew up in Cambridge and Brockton, MA, married Louis Beckman and lived for many years in Newton, MA before moving to Warwick, RI, where she lived within 50 yards of her three sisters (Blanche, Dena and Ruth, who passed away in 1995). She moved to the Classic Residence by Hyatt in Chevy Chase, MD in 1996 and lived with her son Steven for three years before moving to Rochester in January. Mrs. Beckman loved being busy; she knitted afghans for each of her grandchildren. She worked as a women‘s clothing store manager before she married and had several jobs after her children reached middle school. She was very close to her sisters and famous in the Andelman family for her apple pies. Memorial donations may be made to JSSA Hospice or the Brandeis University National Women‘s Committee. Her family will be at home on October 14 and 15, 7 to 9 pm at 4020 Everett Street, Kensington, MD.

To the family of Bernice,

I was so sorry to hear about her passing. Though these times of sorrow are
so hard to deal with, know that God is there for you always. Find comfort as
I have in Psalms 121.
