BLANCHE CLAUDETTE GAINES  (Age 98)  
Of Washington, DC passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2012. She was the wife of Effinger W. Gaines who preceded her in death. She was employed by the D.C. Public Schools as a teacher of English at Terell Jr. High. She is survived by her children, Melvin W. Gaines (Beatrice) of Silver Spring, MD and Constance G. Guyton (Marion) of Columbia, MD; three grandsons and a host of other family members. On Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., family will receive friends at John Wesley AME Zion Church, 1615 14th Street, N.W. Washington, DC 20009. Interment Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Suitland, MD. www.marshallmarchfh.com

What a wonderful Legacy to leave behind, for family and friends to remember about Ms. Blanche Gaines. Her Biography alone makes her a historical icon. The impact she made on hundreds of her students in the DC Public Schools still lives on today. A brilliant Light now shines in Heaven.
