BRIAN WILLARD Obituary

BRIAN CHARLES WILLARD, SR.
In loving memory of Brian Charles Willard Sr., who passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021. He was born in Washington, DC, February 4, 1948 to the late Charles Henry and Hazel Jean Willard. Coming from humble beginnings and as the oldest child of seven, Brian naturally took on a leadership role. Even from a young age, he became a provider for loved ones and strangers alike, and he continued to cultivate this role throughout his life. With a growing family, he began the journey to build what became the largest independent meat company in the Mid-Atlantic region. He was a source of knowledge in a broad range of topics, and his door was always open. There was never a burden too great or a situation too cumbersome for him to handle. He was a most generous and selfless man and anyone who knew him could consider themselves a very fortunate soul. Brian was an avid golfer, winning many titles, club championships, member guest tournaments, and was widely accepted in the Washington area as a top amateur player. He played on the golf team at the University of Maryland, College Park in the 1960s with aspirations at that time of becoming a professional golfer. He spent a lifetime on the course, as passionate about the game as the first day he picked up a club. He lived and (literally) died on the course. Brian's proudest legacy and biggest accomplishment was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Terry Ann (Brassel); his three sons, Scott (Suzanne), Brian Jr. (Sara), Travis (Mya); three daughters, Michelle Pergolini, Kristen Swiggett, Shannon (Steven) Kohan; and 19 remarkable grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers and three sisters, along with countless other family members and friends. At the family's request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to First Tee Golf in support of his devotion to the sport, https://firsttee.org/donate/. No words can express the loss all of Brian´s family and friends feel at this time. 5 months ago I lost my best friend and since then there is not a single day that goes by I miss him any less. He was the rock that many of us counted on every day. Relentless was his passion for golf and he put that same passion in everything he did. I sure I speak for so many including myself who owe him so much!!
