ROBINSON Cecil Robinson On Sunday, October 1, 2017, Cecil Robinson, 67, of Washington, DC, passed away at Inova Alexandria Hospital after a long illness, surrounded by his wife of 45 years, R Townsend Robinson; son, Christopher Robinson; daughter-in-law, Kemah-Kumba Camara; and sister-in-law, Antoine Menthonnex. He is also survived by his mother, Ellen L. Robinson; two sisters, Marietta Stafford and Denise Hawkins; a brother, Sam Robinson (Coreen); an uncle, Berry Clark; sisters-in-law, Renee R. Robinson, LaShawn Malloy (Donald), and Dorothy Gutrick (Clarence); four brothers-in-law, Andre Townsend (Theresa), Silas M. Townsend (Ida), Eric J. Townsend, and Donald A. Townsend; many nieces; nephews; cousins; and a host of close family friends. He was predeceased by his father, Ceroy Robinson, Sr.; a brother, Ceroy Robinson, Jr.; a sister, Benita Robinson Jones; and his beloved daughter, Mary Elizabeth Robinson. Cecil was born in Atlanta and reared in the District of Columbia. Educated in the DC Public Schools, he graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1968 and attended the University of the District of Columbia and The American University. His long career as a federal police officer began in 1972 with his service at the Bureau of Indian Affairs (he was granted a top secret security clearance), then service at the Washington Navy Yard (the National Photographic Interpretation Center and the Naval Facilities Engineering Command), and culminated in his retirement from the Pentagon Police Force Agency on January 30, 2005, after 32 ½ years of service. Cecil was a loving husband, an excellent provider, and a dedicated family man. Anyone who met him immediately learned about his wife and children. He was the consummate documentarian, always capturing the major events of family life on camera-albeit for Cecil there were no minor events. He loved photography and videography; the cinema; live theatre; music (blues, gospel, and classical); radio programs; reading military history, natural science, science fiction, science fantasy, biographies, culinary arts, and mysteries; astronomy; traveling to science museums, planetariums, and zoos throughout America and Europe; cooking; golf; tennis; and fishing.
