Dr. CHARLES MATHEW WAESPY  (Age 88)  
A long-time resident of Chevy Chase, Maryland passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016. Born and raised in Union City, NJ, he was the son of Karl and Anna (Einsiedler) Waespy. He graduated from St. Peters Preparatory School in 1946 and attended the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD from where he was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in 1951. He received a Master's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles in the field of Aerospace Engineering. He married Frances McShane of Long Beach, CA in 1964. Dr. Waespy retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Lt. Colonel and entered into professional careers with private industry and the federal government, working at ITT Corp. in New Jersey, Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC, and the Institute for Defense Analyses in Alexandria, VA. He worked in the area of Electronic Warfare technologies, authored numerous papers, and advised senior government officials.Dr. Waespy is preceded in death by his wife. Dr. Waespy is survived by his brother, George Waespy (Alice) of Whiting NJ; cousin, Eleanor Schmitz, of Sarasota, FL; two nieces, Franna Lusson, of San Lorenzo, CA, and Diane Waespy of Hackensack, NJ; nephew, Thomas Waespy of Hawthorne, NJ; many close friends and colleagues. A funeral service is will be held Wednesday, November 2 at 11 a.m., at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.

Charley was such a great guy to know. I always enjoyed my visits back East and also the times he was out here in California. I know he has found peace and send my condolences to his family and friends.
