On Thursday, August 25,2022, Dr. Chester Wilbert Wright of Temple Hills, Maryland entered into eternal rest. He is survived by his wife, Esther Wright; three children, Donna, Bruce Andre, and Chester Jr.; grandson, Michael Chase, Jr.; two sisters, Ruby Wade Lewis and Gail Wade, a host of family and friends. He was a member of the Alpha Sigma chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. Viewing 11 a.m., Funeral Service at 12 p.m. will take place on September 8, 2022 at Strickland Funeral Services, Camp Springs, MD. Interment at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetary. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that a tribute gift may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Dr. Chester W. Wright.

I will always remember Chester, we were friends as well as colleagues. He was such a kind and jovial person. He could also tell some very good jokes. He is truly missed. May he rest in heavenly peace.

I just found out that Chester passed away, I was his secretary for the English Department at the University of DC for a little while. He was a good guy and easy to work with. All he wanted was to have the department's work done. My sincere condolences to his wife, family and friends.

I remember that he was just a very jovial & patient person, especially even when there were several students waiting to see him. As a Department Chair of English, he made time for everyone, with sincerity mostly too.

Professor Wright was a good teacher. I remember if you challenged his authority, about a question. He would look over his glasses and say. Tell me again why are you embarrassing yourself. I would laugh so hard until the entire class would be laughing but dared to tried him. Then he would always explain why to your logic. He was a great teacher and I am so grateful to have been his student. My condolences to the family and friends during this most difficult time of bereavement. May God Bless us all.

A real educator, I recall Dr. Wright tell me when I became a Sigma, "I am going to make sure that you are Educated and not edumacated, you will not represent PBS in anyway less than Stellar" Rest Easy Frat.
