Claire Cargill Obituary

Claire P. Cargill, DDS,
Taken away suddenly on June 26, 2015. She never said I''m leaving, she never said goodbye. She was gone before we knew it and only God knows why. If our love alone could have kept her here, she would have lived forever. Lovingly remembered by  her family, friends and patients.

Oh dear, wow! I was just remembering my old HU friends/ classmates and I searched for your name remembering you were studying to be a dentist many years ago. Little did I know that I was too late, reaching out. Only to find out you have been gone for 8 years now. Rest in perfect peace. Info not know why you came to my mind today rather strongly, prompting me to search for you. Rest on.

Claire followed me in birth order and my earliest memory goes back to 1963, the year of her birth. She followed me to the same primary school; went to different high schools, but then she followed me to Howard University. All the while, as a Big Brother, I deemed it my job to take care of my Little Sister Nicky and our Baby Sister Maxine. How I wish my job with Nicky didnt end so soon! Every day, since God called her home, I have tried to accept that Nickys job here was done. She is forever in our hearts!

Claire and I went to high school together. She and her family lived relatively close by my familys home in Jamaica during this very exciting and mischievous phase in our lives. We both grew up, got less mischievous, went to college and started our separate careers in the USA. I attended her wedding and 1 of her baby showers. We both lived and worked in the DMV area, keeping in touch occasionally but not as often as I would have liked...we lived extremely busy lives.

Her middle name is Patrice and I am Patrice Major.

She transitioned to Heaven 2 days before my birthday so I will never ever forget where I was that day...returning to Virginia from an early birthday celebration in New York with my mother and sisters. Its still hard to believe she is really gone and its been 5 years. Claire Patrice Cargill, I miss you and your quirky laughter. Until I see you again my friend...love you always!!!

A couple of years ago (or maybe last year) your sister Maxine shared this picture of the both of us and I will treasure it forever!

May you find comfort in remembering her laughter like I do; her strength and love of family that she shared with me; how she touched each and every one of your lives in her own special way. I did not see her often but knew that family and friends meant the world to her. Those special gifts will always live on in each of you.

R.I.P. Claire, my HCHS classmate for life!

Never knew you would have made such an impact in mylife. You not being here is not the same. This I've accepted and God knew why but the memories will forever to live on.

Sending thoughts of peace and comfort during this time...

To send my deepest sympathy, just didn't seem enough, I know how your grief must burden you, how this time must be so rough.

But try to believe in your heart of hearts, that your pain won't last forever. That sadness will lighten a little each day, and you'll eventually feel much better.

She's only gone on ahead of you, not just left you behind. Although you can't be with her right now, she lives on in your hearts and mind.

Sending thoughts of peace and comfort during this time.
