Cynthia Berkowitz Obituary

On May 2, 2025, Cynthia G. Berkowitz peacefully passed away in Adamstown, Maryland. Cindy was born at Sibley Hospital in Washington, DC on March 24, 1942, the daughter of the late Howard and Rose Greenberg. After attending Woodrow Wilson High School, she went to Syracuse University, majoring in Elementary Education. She worked as an elementary school teacher before transitioning to a job in Personal Administration at the NIH. After marrying her husband Herb, they moved to Potomac to start a family. Her love of singing was contagious, which she enjoyed for many years with the Sweet Adelines Vienna Falls Chorus and Har Shalom singing group. In later years, she volunteered at the Rockville Center for the Arts. Cindy was a perennial winner of the prize for World's Best Brisket and loved cooking voluminous amounts of food for holidays and special occasions. Cindy will be lovingly remembered by her circle of cherished friends. She is survived by her sons Jason (Major) and Dr. Jared (Elizabeth), adored grandchildren, Liam and Maya, and faithful grand-dog, Ginger.

Funeral services will be held at Judean Memorial Gardens in Olney, MD on Sunday, May 4, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Cindy's memory to the courageous patients, families, and caregivers battling Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (psp.org). Services entrusted to Sagel Bloomfield Danzansky Goldberg Funeral Care.
