I just learned of Dana's passing. We worked together at the U.S. Dept of Justice and I am saddened at the loss of one of the finest men I ever knew. Rest in peace, Dana. You were respected by all who knew you.

Dana´s family,
Two and a half years after his passing, I am devastated to discover our country has lost a true patriot, a great man, and a very loyal friend. Dana and I were very close friends during our years at ASU College of Law. We lost contact over the years after exchanging Christmas cards every year until shortly after he lost Rusty. Our daughter is currently a plebe at the Naval Academy and my wife and I are moving to Annapolis in the Spring. I knew Dana had retired and was likely living in the DC area so I decided to look him up from various public websites and rekindle our old friendship and wonderful memories. That´s when I was shocked to discover he was gone. Belatedly, my deepest heartfelt sympathies are extended to his wife, daughters and grandchildren for your loss.
My two best friends in law school were Dana and Truman R. Young, who was tragically killed in a midair collision in March. 1982 while piloting a National Guard air tanker near Luke AFB. The three of us lifted weights for four years together nearly every week at the ASU football players´ weight room. We teasingly called him "the Question Man" due to his penchant to ask a profound question right before of one of us would attempt a heavy life. Dana was a very special man, very loyal friend, and his family should forever be proud of him. He was a real man with very high character, a great sense of humor, unpretentious, humble, intelligent, extremely loyal, loved his family and country, honest, hard working, etc. I could go on. I will end by saying goodbye to my old friend: if I ever had a son, I would want him to be just like you, Dana Biehl. May you rest in peace. I will see you and Truman again someday.

Dana and I first met our freshman year in college. We were fraternity brother and roommates, and essentially neighbors in N. Va until 2002. I always looked up to Dana because he seemed to be a human on a higher plain than the rest of us. It is difficult to believe he is gone because I always thought him to be invincible. My heart is broken that he is gone. Such a good man.

I had the great privilege to work with Dana over a number of years and he was a big hearted colleague and friend. He had the ability just by walking into a room to lighten things up, even at the most difficult of times, with his cheerful optimism and positivity. But he also had a very real ability to get things done and to motivate others. He was a great team player. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family, Norman McFadyen.

We fondly recall Dana's generous and unstinting support of our endeavours at the Scottish Court in the Netherlands twenty years ago. We are grateful to him, not only for his insightful professional input, but also for the warmth and kindness of his friendship in what were demanding times for us, away from our homes and families. I had the great pleasure and privilege of working with Dana at DOJ and on a a couple of major cases. He was deeply respected for his commitment to his work, justice, and his country. He was beloved for his unbounded optimism, huge smile, booming laugh, and big heart. I will always be deeply grateful and happy that our paths crossed. I will never forget Dana. My deepest condolences to his family.

I am a fraternity brother of Dana's, actually he was my little brother in Delta Chi. We kept contact during the years I was with the FBI and he was with the DOJ. I was and am very proud of Dana. He was one of the persons I most admired. His intellect and work ethic were second to none. He had a magnetic personality and everyone he met were won over by him, except of course some of those on the other side of the courtroom. He always seemed so invincible to me, one of the strongest guys I've known. I have many great memories of and with Dana. He was special.

Dana was a friend and colleague for over 30 years. He was a true American hero. Military and DOJ. We worked closely on one major investigation and he always had a smile on his face. He loved his country and his family. He was always proud of his girls, first their sports, then college and later as they started families. He was a great friend and i know Deb and his family miss him. RIP brother.
