Daniel Beard Obituary
Show rigger for Ozzy Osbourne and others such as Kiss, AC/DC, Ricky Martin, Blink182, and Linkin Park and Beckman Rigging. Born September 24, 1969 in Wurtsmith AFB in Oscoda, MI died November 7, 2004 in Castaic, CA. He also lived in Fairfax, VA. He was a wonderful person with a generous heart, sweet smile and twinkling blue eyes. Everyone who knew him loved him. His interests were philosophy and old classic movies. Services will be held at the FAIRFAX MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 9902 Braddock Rd., Fairfax, VA, on Sunday, November 14, 2004 at 2 p.m. He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Beard of Fairfax, VA; his father, Donaldson Beard (Nina) of Sterling, VA; a sister, Kellee Marshall of Gainesville, VA; grandmothers, Mary Alice Mitchell Gazzola of Roland, OK and Ora Mae Beard Martin of Greenland, AR. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to a charity of your choice. For directions visit www.fmfh.com.

The more I research about the type of life you lead, read stories about you online, My heart just breaks because of the nice things written about you and wish you could be here to enjoy every word. Even though it's been 20 years since we seen each other, I wish that I could see you again. I still have fond memories of you and miss you even more the same time every year. RIP -- I'm sure you and my mom are having a great time together! I believe that I have a guardian angel -- maybe two!

I lost my last biological Granny a week ago today. It is comforting to know that she has been reunited with all of her loved ones who crossed to the other side before her. It is also comforting to know that she is likely enjoying chatting with Danny! I know that you will be great company for her!

I has been just over a year and I still miss Daniel greatly. Even though he was my cousin he was really more like a little brother. I remember the days of Daniel living next door to us while his dad was in Viet Nam. He followed my dad and I around like a little shadow. He always had that little grin on his face. Then later in live when I lived with Daniel and his family. I remember taking him to eat Chinese food for his first time, taking him to buy a winter coat, watching him and his friends as they "grew" up. Dan we all miss you

Well i discovered rigger dans death watching an episode of battle for ozzfest when i saw a picture of him saying rip.I was pretty mad but yet confused because i didn't hear anything about his death before from anyone else.when i did a search i couldnt find anything but now i have.I didn't really know rigger dan but i saw him on riding in vans with boys and i thought he was the coolest dude cuz he gave such great advice and was always the life of the party.I'm sure he will be greatly missed.RIP Rigger Dan!

Oh Dan, How hard this is. To miss you so much. I have read and re-read the entries in this guest book so many times now and it seem to help me smile while thinking about you. Such a good man, so kind. I can only pray that you knew just how much you were, and still are loved. To carry on without you will be hard for everyone. Thinking of your smile not only brings peace, but leaves such a yearning, just knowing that we will never see those beautiful blue eyes and glorious smile again. I knew Dan when he was first getting into the biz: Patriot Center,National Events,etc. When I heard the news I thought it must be a mistake, but as I read through the guest book I know it is him. His humor and attitude are legendary, and maybe a little of that rubbed off on all of us. I will treasure the photos of us.

I just found out about Dan's death. What a sad, sad thing. Dan was a very funny guy, very personable and full of energy. While working he was almost always smiling.
My sincere condolences to Dan's family and close friends. It's just so sad. He will be missed by many.

I just found out yesterday that Dan passed a few months ago..cannot believe that he's gone. I met him at Ozzfest back in 1999, and he was truly one of the greatest (and strangest) people I have ever met. Some of you know how much I loved that crazy man..I just hope that wherever he is now that he's okay.

I had the pleasure of riggin with dan on many of the ozzfest tours n other shows he was on,Rigger dan was great at what he did as a rigger n a great person with such a great personality. I can hardly believe the news I have received today....Im heartbroken and surprised and will always remember the endless debates that Dan and I carried on for days at a time when we toured together with HORDE so long ago. He was a shining boy...I just saw him at this past summers Ozzfest and we hardly got a chance to talk...it breaks my heart that you are gone Dan. So many loved you and so many were charmed by you. I just learned about this while watching some battle for ozzfest re-runs. I toured on ozzfest 1999 and 2000 with static-x. I was relatively new to the game and I learned alot from Dan. My heart goes out to his family and anyone that ever knew him.

Rigger Dan has criss crossed this country so many times it's a wonder how he remembered so many locals. He always had a big hug and smile for me every single time he came thru the NY area and took the time to ask how I was and what was new and exciting in my life.
My favorite time spent with him was this year's OZZFEST at Jones Beach (and PNC). Working with him and Eddie Webb on the Party Like a Rock Star Tour was the best (and easiest) OZZFEST I have ever done as a local PA. They had me laughing so hard-my sides hurt.
I will miss seeing your (dirty) smiling mug-my friend.

Rigger Dan - It is with great sadness I learned recently about your passing. Totally unreal. If you stay in this business long enough, you see the same people over and over again out on the road. And in the case of Rigger Dan, this was always a good thing. I always looked forward to seeing Rigger Dan out on tour. He always made me laugh. Rigger Dan was bigger than life, a true original and a consummate professional. It's nice to see he has touched so many people. Rig Hard Dan. You will be missed. I met Rigger Dan doing local lights for a weekend of STP gigs up here in New England. Aside from not sleeping for 2 days, he made the trip fun. Always smiling and helping stay me awake when I truly needed to sleep. He stickered nearly every road case we had with "Rig Hard" stickers, "much to the dismay of our shop manager." We were finding the stickers 3 months later, on that side of the case no one looks at. I laughed everytime we found one long after our little trip with STP. I still have my bumper stickers. Unused and they will stay that way. Except for one which will be put on my road case and that "shop manager," will not remove this one. I last saw him on Ozzfest 2004, Same Dan, still smiling and covered with chain grease. We have lost a true professional in our business. He will be sadly missed. 'Rig Hard'

jeez dude i cant believe this has happened. One night im watching riding in vans with boys the next i found out that theres no more rigger dan. I am a massive blink 182 fan and i found out about rigger dan when i watched riding in vans with boys he came across so friendly and funny u could just tell he was an awesome dude.i know he is gonna me missed by alot of people and is going to be way to hard to come across another person like rigger dan. Rest in peace RD you will be missed!

I was shocked to hear of Dan's passing. All that I can think of is all the infrequent but memorable times we had. From him cracking my knee (accidentally of course)with a ledger during the Taste of DC 92 for National Events. To the 4 Hour drives we took to State College PA doing one-offs for Road Runner. And all the times he blew through the arena I rig at now. If I saw Dan at the start of load-in, then I knew it was going to a heavy but quick rig. He was always happy and joking, and always a treat to pull with or for. He will be sorely missed.
