I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear
of the passing of Dr Daniel Farber. It was
one year ago, June 23, 2015, that I got the
privilege of meeting and beginning my association with this kind, wonderful, funny,
sweet man.
Over the months, as I was recommended for braces to fix my bite before proceeding
on for further dental work, I came to not only "enjoy" my visits, but I came to appreciate and care very much for this very special man.
I had an unexpected visit with him on the 25th of June - my bracket had come loose and when I called that morning, he said that wasn't good, can you come in around 10...
It was a terrific visit because not only did he repair and take of my issue, also doing a few extra tweeks, he wanted to share a very special video he had made of he and his wife's journey, because they had recently celebrated her 75th birthday.
Dr Farber and I shared a very unusual bond,
he and his wife and me and my husband attended the same high school in Washington, DC. It was at different times, but we were alumni just the same. He especially wanted to show me his "prom" picture. It was gorgeous.
As I thanked Dr Farber for sharing with me that awesome video, I gave him a big hug and I told him that I would bring my "prom"
picture next time. This was Friday, he passed away on Monday. Oh my, how terribly sad for me, for all of us who knew him.
I just wanted to share my heart, and offer my deepest sympathy and condolences to his family and great staff that I know he loved so dearly. I will never forget this lovely time in my life - Dr Farber gave me something I never had, a normal bite and the beginnings of a beautiful smile that makes me so very happy.

On a recent Saturday my little grandson was traveling with his family from North Carolina to Quebec, Canada for a vacation. The plan was for them to make a stopover with us in North Bethesda for the night. However, on the way here the wire on his bottom brace bent and came loose, leaving him very uncomfortable. Even though they were already over halfway, with his baby sister close to the end of her tolerance for car travel, his parents wondered if they should turn around and return home so that his NC orthodontist could take care of the situation. Fortunately, I thought to post a message on our list serve asking for a recommendation of an orthodontist in this area, and so learned about Dr. Farber. Even though my daughter's family would not arrive until evening, he immediately agreed to help them. He did so with such skill, all the while putting us at ease. He then declined any type of payment. What a wonderful model of kindness and generosity he was for us. Our hearts go out to his family. May he rest in peace.

For 20 Year Dr. Farber took excellent care of our three children, Alex, Rebecca, and Molly Feiden. He was totally devoted to doing the best job possible for our son who had very challenging issues. He pledged 15 years ago that he would see him through to the end of the long and complicated intervention, and he did. He was always a pleasure to meet with and his interest in the well-being of his patients was so genuine. If there was ever a doctor who saw his role as a service to others, it was him. We will miss him.

Danny and I go way back to the second grade at the Hebrew Academy of Washington.
It was a pleasure to be welcomed by him and yourself every few years when I and later with my late wife Margit, came to visit in the US from Israel.
It was an honor and privilege to have grown up and been his friend all these years.

My deepest condolences to your family on the passing of a generous, witty, and talented man. Dr. Farber treated all four of my children, including the youngest, about whom he joked, "Mom, you hit a home run with this one. No need for any orthodontics."
