Not sure what to say?

I guess I have waited to write in this so that i could think of something "good" to say. Some combination of words that will sound beautiful and come together neatly in this entry.
Tonight I have come to the realization that nothing anyone writes in here will ever amount to anything or seem good enough.
David was an individual that cannot be described with words, they would not do justice. He was an awesome GREAT-uncle and there was no one I would have rather gone grocery shopping for every other sunday. (Even if my mom and I never got the right groceries!) :)
I will miss Uncle David, forever. He knows that. But he would not want me or anyone else to be sad, he would much rather see us happy with the ones that we love. After all, he is with Judy, the one he loves.

Ummm....I don't know exactly where to begin. I guess I should start with I loved Uncle David. I remember the 1st time I met David after he moved to North Carolina, I was about to get scolded for driving to fast in the neighborhood. David walked out with his oxygen tank and lit up a cigarette. I had asked him if that was safe to do and he just laughed and said it never harmed anything and that he was too old to change his habits.

I miss his sense of humor, I don't exactly know how to describe it right, but if you knew him well then you know what I'm talking about. But what I'll miss the most is tripping over his oxygen-cord. I would always try to walk over it only to trip on it.

The night he passed away was a very sad one for me because I never really got to say goodbye to him. I wasn't really ready to let him go just yet. But the one thing that made smile the most was the clock in his bedroom that never worked. The day before he passed away I changed the battery hoping it would work only to find out it never really worked to begin with. But my mom told me that when she walked into his room after they took him away the clock was working and keeping perfect time and no one had touched it. My mom said it was David's little sign of showing us that he was happy and no longer in pain.

My wife, Patti, said it best below. We were truly fortunate to spend the last several months with Uncle David after his wife passed away. These few months were wonderful. We had many dinners at my mother's house and this gave us time to get to know David all over again. My youngest son, C.J., always look forward to going to see David. David called him my little buddy. Jessica and Robert, my oldest two children, formed the same bond with David. We all knew David's time with us would be limited, but it is still a surprise when the time ends. We know David is in heaven and he is finally at peace. During some of his time when he was not as coherent as others, he spoke of his mother, father, and wife. If there is any comfort in his passing, it is knowing he is with these people now in heaven. My final memories of Uncle David will be the times we spent going to the barber shop to get haircuts together. We did this about every other Saturday during the last several months. After a haircut, which David actually got a "flat-top" this last time, David would always want to go eat Mexican food, and we always did. I am glad his suffering and pain are over. The lord knows when it is time, and this was the time. Our entire family's love is with Uncle David.

Words always seem so inadequate when someone you love passes away. I am thankful for the time we all had with David. I am so glad we had the opportunity to make such wonderful memories. They will be cherished forever.

We were very sad to hear of the death of our grandfather. We wish we could have had the opportunity to get to know him, but certain family considerations made this impossible. We were always pleased to hear from him, and it was nice to know that he knew of us, and that he thought about us.

Uncle David was the best uncle to have as a child...as an adult we lost touch...but then found our way back. David not only touched my heart but the heart of all his nieces and nephews..his hat rests daily with my son watching over it and still talking to his Uncle David...He will be missed by yet another generation and so his spirit will march on.....
