I am a classmate and former close friend of David's from NYU Med School. We lost touch after school, though I remember being inivited and unable to attend his wedding. I recently uncovered an old photo album with pictures of us together in happy times which inspired me to atttempt to locate and contact him via the internet, only to discover this devastating news. My deepest delayed condolences to his family, he was one of the good guys. It is not fair.

Hi Guys, Annita (Seckinger) here. I only now heard the news. At the moment i am without word and the sadness is sooo deep that i feel like i have been hit with stun-gun. Unfortunately i have no words except that he will be missed something awful and not just by me. I just wanted to say my thoughts are with all of you right now. I know there is not much one can say at a time like this, so i will not even try. Much love.

I was floored to hear of David's premature passing. I respected and admired David, both as an excellent endocrinologist who was fair-minded when he headed CDER Endocrine & Metabolic, and for his drug development expertise when he was at MedPace (during which time I had the pleasure of working with him as both a member of my company's Clinical & Scientific Advisory Board, and as a key member of the MedPace team partnered with us in running our Phase 2b trial world-wide). The world has lost a true mensch. My heart goes out to his family and close friends.

RIP, David

As a clinician scientist in obesity research, I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Orloff during his time at the FDA and after. The field shall miss this fair-minded man and his many skills in evaluating medications for chronic weight loss. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

I had profound respect for DGO (as we affectionately called him) as a colleague, but more importantly, as a person. He treated everyone with such warmth and sincerity. And his humor...that's one of the first things people mention. My thoughts and prayers to his family. A truly great man.

My thoughts n prayers are with you! I worked with DGO for 8 years at Medpace. I did a lot of IT Support for David over the years. I enjoyed him imminently. Always a happy guy. My heart goes out for all of you.

Dear David's family,
Please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers. I was privileged to indirectly work with DGO at Medpace, mostly by creating numerous slide sets for his many presentations and seeing him when he came into town since his office was near my cube. He always thanked me via email for the slides and always asked about my life and how home schooling my daughter was going. He also was a trusted voice and comfort when my parents were ill. I shall never forget his friendliness, kindness, and smiling face.
Sending my love and comfort,
Anne-Marie Glover
