Dear Caroline, Linda and families,
My wife and I wish to express our sincere sympathy and condolences to your family.
I am one of literally hundreds of Del’s colleagues and friends across the country who have benefited from his major contribution to our profession and lives. As Director of Social Work Services for the Veterans Administration (Department of Veterans Affairs), Del provided leadership and vision in the development of a nationwide system of health and rehabilitative services for veterans and their families. He provided leadership in the education and training of social workers for the VA and the nation; and created an environment which promoted caring, service and excellence. Trust and respect for colleagues and support for, and recognition of, their accomplishments characterized his leadership. Del was truly a Social Work Pioneer, leader, mentor and friend whom we were blest to have "known along the way". Thank you for sharing him with us.

I will miss Del's phone calls and notes....he sent me one recently about some materials he found from his graduate social work classes over 50 years ago. He was a great social worker and profoundly effected the profession. I will miss him. My condolences to his daughter and Caroline and his family. Jean K. Quam, University of Minnesota

Delwin was a great friend and supporter of the School. He also accomplished much and was very much admired for his contributions to the profession of social work.
