Departed this life as a result of a traffic accident on the morning of Saturday, May 20, 2006. Desi as she was known by many was a Junior at Springbrook High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. She had a smile that lit up the world. Her spark in life was her love for children. She wanted to become a teacher and study early childhood education in college. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Kimberly Pumphrey; her brother, Everett S. Pumphrey; her sisters and brothers, Kisha, Adrian, Julian and Sophia Kelly. She also leaves her grandmothers, Gloria Moorehead, Alverda Johnson and Mary McLemore; grandfathers, Solomon Majid and Everett Pumphrey, Sr.; her godmother, Mary Toliver; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. She now joins her father and best friend, Everett Pumphrey, Jr., who preceded her in death in November of 2005. Family will receive friends on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at the Mount Jezreel Baptist Church, 420 University Blvd., East, Silver Spring, MD from 6 to 8 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Friday, May 26, 2006 at 11 a.m. Rev. Eldridge Spearman, officiating. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Arrangements by SNOWDEN FUNERAL HOME, PA.

Wow dezi...it's so hard to wake up every morning knowing that I have to go another day without your laugh or your smile or your somewhat crazy advice.Everyday I think to myself, life is so precious and you always made sure to remind me of that!!I'm pretty sure this isn't easy on Everett or Ms.Kim but your mother has the strength of a mighty woman because that's just what she is.She brought a child into this world that was a positive influence on my life, was always there for me,and taught me so many things so for that I could never thank her enough.I try so hard not to cry "hunnie bun" but it hurts to an unbelievable extent but I know that you are with someone you have been longing to be with for a while now.We all miss you with every last bit of our hearts and from the bottom of my heart I love you and will always smile with every tear I cry.
**To The Pumphrey Family**
-Words cant possibly express my sympathy so I will not try but I will say that Dezi was special and you dont need me to tell you that, you already knew from the day she came into this world.Just remember that with every tear must come a smile no matter the pain or how hard it is to bare. Dezi was there for me everytime I lost someone close to me, and she was always there to tell me "SMILE HUNNIE BUMP". You are in my prayers and you have all of my love!!

You and your Dad are in my thoughts so much today Baby Gurl..Hmm, You guys must be hanging out and catching up with each other. At least, thats what I surmise. Still very saddened and shocked, but consoled in knowing that you're with God first, and then your Dad. Seems so sureal that I'm writing to you here - the same site we both wrote to your father on. You both are so missed, so loved, yet will NEVER be forgotten.

Hey Kim and Everett
Words can't express the way I feel. Desi has been on my mind for awhile and I was just asking Jimmea a couple of week ago when was the last time she talked or seen her. I've learned alot from this experince LIFE IS TOO SHORT. If someone is constantly on your mind, take the time to call them, see them, touch them because you never know what God has in store. I still haven't processed everything that has happened. I just can't beleive she's gone. I could still hear her voice saying hey Ms. Dominique. I find myself going onto Desi's Myspace page hoping and praying that this is just a dream and that I can't wake up. Then I realize she's gone. I miss Desi and I will always keep your family in my prayers. Take care and We see you soon.

My Desi Wessi Boo,
I miss you so much, I also miss your tender touch, I didn't get to say good-bye, and for many years, I shall cry, As I reminise about the times we had, When I was with you I was never sad, I never thought the fun would end, Until the day I lost you my friend Sometimes I lie in bed, With thoughts of you running through my head, Sometimes I ask why not me, There were so many things you didn't get to see, Your life had just begun, But we can't change what's been done, You were still just a kid, I really miss the crazy things we did, Your smile brightened an entire room, May 26, is full of gloom, I hate that we had to part, But you`l hold a place here within my heart, When I lost you, I thought my life would end too, When we were together we always had a blast, I will never forget our special past, You always understood how I felt, That look in your eyes made all the guys melt, And I know that you were one of a kind, A friend like you so hard to find So goodnight godbless, my friend sleep tight I`ll miss you more and more each night. only time can cure the pain i feel right now
Love ya always

We the Jones family (ReGina, Amera (Precious), Me'Lisa (Lisa)& Calvin (known as CJ), send our deepest sympathy to the Pumphrey family. This is such a great lost to our personal family as well as the White Oak "Warriors" Family. I personally remember "Desi" when she first came to White Oak b4 the transition to Pop Warner. I was the first Cheer Coach with White Oak as well as my daughters, Precious & Lisa...we & Donna Evans used to sit on the side or parking lot talking with Kim (her mom) after practices and games while Desi stood watch with us, smiling. She always had a beautiful smile and a very pleasant & sweet personality. She didn't start cheering until after the transition. Desi was also special and very helpful to the Coaches and cheerleaders. She was always willing to help with the ones having difficulties with the routines and Desi was always there to make it easier for them, and, always with a smile (and...she could really Dance her butt off). CJ loved her a lot...they would pick with each other and she'd call him her little boyfriend. Desi will surely be greatly missed and our prayers goes out to the entire Pumphrey family. We Love You and miss you greatly. You will forever be remembered!

I just wanted to say that i was one of the cheerleaders that used to cheer with Desi. I cheered with her for i think three years. It was so hard to accept that she is gone and she was the one that taught me how to be a better person and how to be a better cheerleader. Well i wish the best for the family and I will miss you Desi!!!!!

The loss of a child is often too painful to bear and we ask why. Only God knows the answer. We were so saddened to hear of your loss, this is only a comma, God has not put a period on this yet. Look to Him for comfort and strength. Look to your memories to console your spirit, look to the many photographs and times that were filled with laughter and love. You will see her again on that great morning. God be with you and your family, we are praying for you.

Dearest Kim and Family,
Psalm 23-"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever."
You are in our prayers-
