Doris Arnold Obituary

Doris Elaine Arnold passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, after a beautiful 59-year life.

Born on June 19, 1965, in Washington, DC, she was proud to call the city her home. She graduated from Burdick/Roosevelt High School and dedicated her life to caring for children. Every child she met had a new auntie and a new nickname. She was active in her community, supporting youth programs, advocating for those who lived in her neighborhood, and caring for those who lived around her. Doris was pure love, and she shared her light generously and abundantly. She will be profoundly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Doris joins in Heaven her parents David Arnold and Ella Elizabeth (Gant) Arnold, and her sister Catherine E. (Arnold) Myrga (Wayne). She is survived by a large circle of her beloved family and friends, including her sister Joanne Coffield of Roanoke, VA; her sister Charlene Arnold-Cheeks and brother-in-law Philip Cheeks of Lanham, MD; her brother Sylvester Clark of Atlanta, GA; her niece LaToya and her husband Jon; her nieces LaKiesha, Paris and Dominique; her nephew David; her great-nieces Charlie-Rose and Ellia-Rae; and her great-nephews Kobe and Quincy-David.

She leaves broken-hearted her boys, Anthony (Rone) Bonetti and Matthew (Matty Dew) Perra and her grandbaby Audrey (Bunny) Perra of Dallas, Texas, and an enormous extended family, both blood and chosen.

Doris's life and legacy will be celebrated on Friday, May 16, at The Way of the Cross Church of Christ, 1800 Hazelwood Drive in Capitol Heights, MD. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Christian funeral service at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Glenwood Cemetery, 2219 Lincoln Road NE in Washington, DC.

Donations can be made in Doris's memory to Youngnifincent Youth Engagement Services, P.O. Box 15434, Washington, DC, 20001 or www.youngnificent.org.
