Wow, its been a long time, but I still miss ya buddy. Dustin was my best friend in boot camp and school of infantry. Am sad we never got to see each other after those days. I am sure it is a friendship that would have lasted a lifetime. To the family of Dustin, I am sorry for your loss and that I never got to pay you my respects in person. What a person he was.

To the family of PFC Dustin M. Sekula:
Please know that just as your loved one remains in your hearts and minds; his sacrifice, and that of your family, remains with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God bless and keep you always.

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

To the family of Pfc. Dustin Sekula,
It is with great sorrow that I have to write once again and offer my condolences. I never got the chance to meet Dustin or cross his path just for a brief second. But I do know without a shadow of a doubt what a great soldier and hero he is. I thank him and you for the sacrifice you now have to endure. Without the fine young men and women as himself, we wouldnt be America. I to lost my son in Iraq, I understand the struggle, the loss and yet the pride we have to carry now. I wish I had words of wisdom and comfort to give you to help you through this as I pray to never have another family bear this weight. But there is none. I can only offer my prayers for you and shed my tears for Dustin along with my son. But please know in your heart that he hasnt and will never be forgotten for the wonderful gift of freedom he has given us and that your love and pride for him is in many of our hearts. We to grieve your loss and I will keep him and all his brothers and sisters still there in Iraq in my prayers. If you ever need another to share feelings with or need someone to just listen, please contact me day or night. We are unfortunately a largely growing group. But we stand together for each other during this time. Together it helps to heal or at least learn to deal with our losses. Please dont hesitate to contact me. If not, then I wish you all the blessings of God to help you through this.

Dear Sekula Family & Friends,

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Dear Sekula Family,
I did not know your beautiful young man, but I do know he was a hero. I cannot say I know how you feel in the loss of your wonderful son, but I can tell you that he was brave, that he faced fears that make others hide and shiver. Not him. This brave young troop served his country, served his family, and stood with his brothers and sister in the face of fear. He overcame and he did his duty.
As an active duty Army wife, I understand those terrible night, waiting and wondering if your loved one is safe in the face of harm. I have been lucky so far. Mine has returned to me thus far.
However, I have no doubt in my mind that your beautiful boy isn't sitting beside you, touching your cheek, wiping away the tears that fall for him, that he isn't the Angel by your side on those days where you wonder if you can make it through the day, the hour, the minute... His tender arms are always wrapped around you now, though they are not seen.
A good man is remembered by his family, his friends... Dustin was a hero. He will be remembered by those who never had the chance to know him, like me. He is not a statistic, he is not a faceless number, he is a HERO... and he will be remembered. Always. He was too good for this world... too good. May your tears find comfort in the fact that he was the man you raised him to be. Strong. Honorable. Dutiful. A HERO. To be remembered. Always... Always...
