Eleanor Edgett Obituary

Edgett

Eleanor Edgett "Jackie "

On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, in Washington, DC, Jackie passed away. Jackie is the loving spouse of her deceased husband, John G. Stone III and is survived by her stepdaughter Corby Stone Rosewag and stepson, Geoffrey Stone. She is also survived by Charles Rosewag (Corby's husband), a niece, two nephews, several cousins, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Along with many other things, Jackie was an ex-nun, a retired DC social worker who worked her way up to Chief, Office of Policy District of Columbia Government, Office of Personnel, and the co-founder along with her late husband, John Stone, of a scholarship for DC high school students seeking careers in public service.

Jackie had a heart as large as the universe. Kind, thoughtful, generous, compassionate, with boundless energy despite many health challenges, and a wicked sense of humor. She loved poetry and music, sharing outrage over the politics of the day, and memories of life in New England, especially her cottage on The Pond in Rhode Island. All who knew her will miss her. Not the least, Buddy, her cat, who filled the space left by Beanie and received Jackie's boundless love and care.
