As I read through the condolences for my daughter, Elise Ayers I was so grateful for all the people who knew her. Elise was a wonderful person with all of the attributes mentioned. I had the wonderful gift of knowing all the attributes mentioned as I watched her grow into the person written about. She truly was the person written about. As her Mother A day does not go by that I miss hearing her voice which sometimes was full of love and other times, correction for my words, actions. I was as a Mother never offended for her criticism or "MOM!"....
Sometimes she hung up the phone when we were "discussing", She probably was right!! Not a holiday celebration happens without missing her laugh, love and laughter. All children are special to a Mother and Elise was----is--- no exception.

Was searching to locate and saw the news of Elise's passing. Her obituary is amazing. What a wonderful woman! What a wonderful gift. I am sure she is missed. - Beth Mannix Ferrando

Elise...I know you are with me so no words needed. But to your family, Ben and the kids...please know that we greatly appreciate the gift of this wonderful, wild and wacky woman! Thank you for sharing her with us. And please accept our deepest condolences. Elise was my colleague but became much more than that - a confidante, an advisor, a role model, and most importantly - a dear friend. She loved all of your fiercely and didn't want to leave you. Or leave any of us. What a great impression she made and what great contributions! To the national HIV program in Ugandam especially the orphan and vulnerable children programs, to the various partners and programs she helped, to all of us - her dear friends, but most importantly her dedication to all of you - her family. I'm sure she is smiling down upon you and all of us right now. Telling us to smile, take a walk, take a break, be happy. Xxx RIP my friend

Elise, we stood together a lot in high school and exchanged lots of our young, light-hearted jaded outlook on life. You were so damn funny! Gone so young and yet you lived it seems hundreds of years in your pursuits, accomplishments, and apparent love for humanity. I am honored to have been able to call you my classmate. May we all be humbled by the great footsteps you have left behind...

Elise I only met you a few times during my holiday visits to my native Uganda and I did not fail to see and feel how you impacted my people and my family. Heaven has indeed gained and we will keep your light shining through the great memories you have left here on earth. Elise my memory of you is seeing pictures of you beautifully clad in a busuti -our traditional garment at Andrew and Patricia Kyambadde's kwanjula. I thought who is this smart muzungu in a busuti? You were fab dear. Ben, the children and your family, it will be well. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Ben, kids and Ayers Family. We know that it is difficult to understand how she is gone. It is also so hard to see how such a generous, kind, witty, dedicated and beautiful wife, mother and daughter can be taken from you and the family she grew up with. Please know that you are not the only ones who were touched by Elise. There are not only her friends and colleagues who give thanks in knowing this true "one of a kind" person, but literally millions of people in Uganda currently benefiting from her professional efforts. You will never be forgotten my friend.

Elise, I am so devastated - you have been taken far too soon. Since your passing my mind has been full of all those wonderful memories we shared, our family camping trips in Nabugabu, vehicles loaded to the brim!! Halloweens spent in Jinja, our running group, badminton and volleyball parties, dinner parties, work gatherings, so many wonderful times together. It has been an absolute honour to know you. Your inner strength, beauty, love and commitment as a mother, wife, friend, aid worker were inspirational. Always striving to do the right thing. You are and always will be an enduring example to all of us left behind mourning your loss. With your 'tough nut' exterior - you weren't fooling anyone - we all knew how much love you had to give. I love you, rest well my friend. Sue xxx

So very sad to hear of Elise's passing. She was beautiful person - full of life and spirit. My favorite memory of Elise was when she pushed Charlene in the lake during a Camp Dennen Memorial Weekend - and Charlene laughed and hugged her and thought it was great. Heaven has gained a real spitfire. Rest in peace, dear Elise.
