Emilio Joseph Cocozzella

In Loving Memory of

Emilio Joseph Cocozzella

Emilio Joseph Cocozzella, a true embodiment of the classic American Dream, passed away on September 5, 2023, in Silver Spring, MD, at the remarkable age of 91. Born in the small village of Monicillioni, Italy, in 1932, Emilio's journey led him to the United States at the age of 16, where he would leave an indelible mark on the lives of those around him.

After serving in the Army, Emilio began his career in the masonry business, but his entrepreneurial spirit led him to venture into various industries alongside his family and friends. In 1977, he founded Potomac Stone Company alongside his two sons, and dedicated years of hard work until his retirement in 1997.

Emilio's greatest joy in life was his loving wife of 70 years, Yvette, who survives him. Together, they traveled the world, always finding their way back to his cherished homeland of Italy. Emilio's passion for family and friends was evident in the many gatherings he organized, from memorable beach vacations and enchanting cruises, to delightful backyard pool parties and festive holiday celebrations. His sociable nature, generosity, and kind soul left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Emilio Joseph Cocozzella is survived by his children: Andrea Cocozzella (Christina), Robert Cocozzella (Paula). His grandchildren, Michael Cocozzella (Heather), Matthew Cocozzella (Kristen), Eva Harvey (Adam), Nicholas, Justin, Gabriela, and Isabela. He also leaves behind five adored great-grandchildren: Luca, Daniella, Leo, Savannah, and Caroline. Emilio was predeceased by his parents, brother, sisters, and his grandson Marc.

Emilio Joseph Cocozzella will forever be remembered as a hardworking, sociable, generous, and loving individual who appreciated the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was savoring delicious food, enjoying fine wine, paying homage to his Italian heritage, or relishing the company of his beloved family and friends, Emilio's presence brought joy and warmth to every gathering. He will be deeply missed and his memory will be cherished by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

I will never forget you Emilio. I have known you my entire life and you always had such a loving and caring personality. I will miss your amazing laugh, the wonderful pool parties in Potomac, the weekly card games with my dad and friends, the way I felt every time I walked into a room with you and you always made me smile. It´s so hard to think about you no longer being here. I will miss you so much! I love you Emilio. May God bring you into their merciful arms.
