Frances hired me for my first real teaching position as a Nursery teacher at The Beauvoir School. I shall always remember her sterling silver barette, her lovely voice, and passion for science.

I was deeply saddened to read the obituary in the Post for Mrs. Borders. I had the wonderful experience of being one of her pupils at Wyngate Elementary School in 3rd and 4th grades back in 1960-1962, and I still think of her as the best teacher I ever had. She fostered in me a passion for science that led me on to earn an engineering degree from the University of Maryland and a Masters degree in Engineering Administration from George Washington University. I have put my engineering knowledge to use over a 34 year career as a Civil Servant with the US Navy, rising to the rank of Senior Executive, and I feel she played a monumental role in my future success. I was somewhat bored with the teachers I had up to the point when I transferred to Wyngate, when I had the great fortune to become her student. She lit a fire in me to pursue knowledge that burns to this day, and I have no doubt she has had a similar impact on countless other students over the years. She touched many lives and made the world a better place. My heartfelt sympathy goes to her family in this time of great loss.
