Frances Shapiro passed away April 10, 2007. After a long and happy life, she died peacefully in her sleep. She would have turned 87 on April 15. Frances was a native Washingtonian, the daughter of James and Dora Witt, and the sister of Daniel and Lili. She was married to Theodore Shapiro in 1940 and was deeply loved by both the Witt and Shapiro families.
Frances was a member of B'nai Brith and Hadassah, and supported many charitable organizations. Her greatest source of pleasure came from her children, Sanford, Lawrence and Donna, and her daughter in-law Beth, grandchildren Jessica, Theodore and Tess.
Frances was considered a great woman by all who knew her. Her qualities of kindness and caring were so transcendent that she touched the hearts of everyone who knew her, and was admired by even the most casual acquaintance. She will be deeply missed by many friends and family. In her last weeks she was comforted by her family and friends, and her beloved caretaker, Jacinta Chacon.
Her funeral will be held at Danzansky-Goldberg Memorial Chapel in Rockville, Maryland at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 13.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Aunt Fran
Rememberances of swimming in the pool, unlimited ice cream, fireworks, love, and most of all caring about everyone. Still using the bundt pan she gave us for our engagement party over 40 years ago.

Aunt Fran's generosity and kindness were so apparent. I have such vivid memories of her warm personality and caring disposition. Although I haven't seen her in a few years...I will miss her and what she brought to our family!

Dear Family,
We all knew your mom/sister as the sweet, generous, sensible woman who had a realistic handle on life and was able to face adversity with strength and take joy in the little things. She was one of the "Witt" cousins who in her quiet way stood as someone we could look up to and be hopeful that we could emulate.
I know how missed she will be by you.
Her memory will last as long as your stories of her and her parents can be told. Much love to you all,
Judi Fried
