GASTON XIV de GALARD de BÉARN, prince de VIANA

On Tuesday, December 17, 2013, GASTON XIV de GALARD de BÉARN, prince de VIANA, of Haymarket, VA passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Gaston was born at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Paris, France on the second of June 1939. He was born to Gaston XIII Ross de Galard de Béarn and Frances Georgette Moss and raised by his mother Frances and step-father Joseph Kelly. Above all else, Gaston loved God, family, and opportunities to help others. He lived life fully and was always looking for the next adventure to share with his loved ones. Gaston entered Georgetown University in 1957 and graduated from Fairfield University in Connecticut in 1961. He went to law school at American University and received his JD in 1964. A close relationship with Robert Kennedy led to an interest in government and politics. He served as an intern to the Kefauver Committee that investigated union corruption and where Robert F. Kennedy was the Counsel. Gaston later served as Senior Liaison, Government Affairs for the pharmaceutical firm of Hoffman La Roche for over 25 years. On retirement from Hoffman La Roche in 1996, he teamed with friends and formed the Washington Liaison Group, an independent legislative advocacy firm.

Gaston was a devout member and lector of St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church in Middleburg, VA and St. Katherine Drexel Mission in Haymarket, VA for 34 years. Gaston was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution for over 25 years. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and husband and had a passion for travel and golf.

Gaston is survived by his wife of 31 years, Ann McCormick de Béarn and his children Céline Lewandowski, Gaston XV de Béarn, Marc de Béarn, Marie-Rose Howson, René de Béarn, Justin Harrell, and Colleen Young. He also sincerely loved his 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 5 to 7 pm at Royston Funeral Home at 102 W Washington Street, Middleburg, VA. An open funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 10 am at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, 23331 Sam Fred Road, Middleburg, VA 20117 with interment to follow at Emmanuel Cemetery in Middleburg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Stephen's Catholic Church.

Evergreen will not be the same without Gaston. He has been an inspiration to all. He never gave up on life and enjoyed it to the very end of his journey here on earth. Whatever he did was with full commitment and dedication in work and personal life.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Peggy and Peter

Hello de Bearn family and friends - it has been a long time.

I also grew up on Merryvale Ct and lived next door to the de Bearn family. My mother still lives in No. Va. area and informed me of Mr. de Bearn's passing.

My prayers go out to the family and friends of Mr. de Bearn.

Growing up we had the best neighbors and I will never forgot the great times we had growing up. The de Bearn family was a great part of that.

I would really like to reconnect with the family. My telephone number is 702-376-8877.

God bless.

I am saddened by the passing of Mr. Gaston de Bearn Senior.

I was fortunate to grow up on Merryvale Court in the 1970's and feel blessed to have the de Bearn's as my neighbors. I feel honored that I was able to reconnect with Gaston Jr. in the early 2000s and he was able to fly down to my wedding in Shreveport, La in 2003.

I feel honored to have known all of the de Bearn family including Mr. Gaston Sr. To me, he had a great combination of charisma, toughness, intelligence and desire. He could take control of any situation and get things done with flair. Everybody on Merryvale court respected Mr. de Bearn. He was the patriarch to a great family including Mrs. Anne, Celine, Gaston Jr., Marc, Marie-Rose and René. Mr. de Bearn always treated me great personally and I am grateful for his influence on my life.

I also want take this opportunity to thank my good friend Marc de Bearn for his service to our country in the military in protecting our freedom. You are a hero and you have a great father.

My prayers go out to the entire de Bearn family and all friends and relatives of Mr. Gaston Sr.

My cell phone is 703-862-4431 and I would love to reconnect at any point.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. We have wonderful memories of Gaston and his welcoming personality. We remember how kind he was during Doug's graduation from Marine Corp Basic Training when we sat a Breakfast with him and Ann and listened to our Josiah talk about movies for the entire time. He was so patient and kind. He will be missed by all he knew him.

God Bless You All
