Anthony "Ankie" Barnes
September 5, 2025
I joined Hartman Cox in 1981 and worked there for 7 years. It was a thrilling and challenging experience, the work the firm was doing was just excellent and George and Warren were very generous in letting us younger architects contribute meaningfully in the design and execution of the buildings we worked on. George was always upbeat, took a personal interest in and interacted frequently with his staff architects and I leaned a lot from him. I admire all he did in his career, the way he mixed his educational interests and contributions with the work of the firm, the twinkle in his eye and, battling to see how often I could be in the office early in the morning before him! It was a real privilege to have know him and I offer my sincerely condolences to the family. Yours sincerely, Anthony "Ankie" Barnes FAIA.
