GEORGE BACKUS ROSE

George Backus Rose Esq. died at his home in Pittsburgh on June 13, 2022. George was born in Sheffield, Ala., to Ruth Backus Rose and Cecil Rose Sr. on July 18, 1948. George is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Dearman Rose, his children, Sara (Chris Langley), Charles and Merry, his grandsons, Charlie and Cade Langley-Rose, and his brothers Charles (Edna) and John (Laurie).

George worked for the Montgomery County (Md.) Office of Consumer Affairs for nearly 30 years and was appointed director in 1997. He later worked for Fitzgerald Auto Mall as vice president of customer relations.

George is remembered by his family as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, and by his friends for his generous spirit, sharp intelligence and loyal nature.

A celebration of George's life will be planned at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Crimson Tide Foundation, Olney Boys and Girls Club, and American Civil Liberties Union.
