We first met Jerry at Mel and Jerry's wedding reception. We both liked him immediately. Since Erv used to live in Ft. Belvoir, VA when he was in the service and since I had never been in DC, Mel and Jerry showed us the sights. Jerry took Erv to a baseball game while Mel and I took the Metro and shopped. We had a great time and we will truly miss Jerry and wish Mel the best in the future. We know how much he cared for Mel and the entire family especially Nat and Sonya.

"Grandpa Jerry" was a very important part of our lives. Cherie and I often recall the day Mel first brought him over to meet us. It was for Thanksgiving dinner at our house on Capitol Hill. We knew that first day that Jerry was a "keeper," and we were so happy when he and Mel stayed together.
Jerry was a great friend who would do anything for you, and he was a wonderful grandpa to our children, Nat and Sonja. They loved him so much, and he was so good to them. His whole face would light up when he saw them.
Reading the other entries in this book really brings home how much living Jerry had already done before we even met him, and how many people he had touched. We feel very lucky for the time that we had Jerry in our lives. It was far too brief. We will miss him.

Jerry was my uncle. We recently reconnected, and I am so thankful that we had an opportunity to talk on the phone several months ago. We didn't see each other often, however, the times we did were special. I will always remember the time Jerry took me and 5 of my college friends on a whirlwind tour of Washington DC. He was a great tour guide. It is with love and respect that I say goodbye!

Just thinking of Uncle Jerry and Aunt Mel makes me smile! In fact just thinking of Jerry saying the word "smile" with that South Eastern drawl of his and a grin from ear to ear makes me lonesome.
We meet Jerry in D.C. when he and Mel were just dating, he was always so eager to show you a good time. A wonderful host, he introduced me to my favorite bartender in D.C., "Shucks," at The Cafe' Italiano. We always enjoyed a good visit, singing show tunes, and enjoying a glass of spirits.
Jerry was so good to our girls, he enjoyed hearing about all the activities, during one visit he discovered that we had not yet purchased a video camera, he handed us his camera and said "there, now you do!" "It's more important for you to use it than it is for me." That was so thoughtful, we will always appreciate it.
Both Jerry and Mel have been so supportive and encouraging of our family and our business, it is a good feeling to know Jerry can check in on us when ever he wants, although I know it won't be until spring because he was not fond of our Minnesota cold and snow!
We love you Melly and will miss Jerry greatly.

Jerry and I go way back to the ‘60s when we both worked as clerks for Steuart Petroleum Company. Jerry worked his way up to fleet manager and while in this position held the office of President of the Truckers Association.
Jerry was a true professional who also knew how to have fun. I wish he could tell the goldfish story one more time. I’m sure he entertained many family and friends with it, as he loved to tell it. Paula especially shared his love of classical music and show tunes.
We always had a wonderful time when we were with Jerry and Mel, as they were excellent hosts and company.
We will miss you very much, and we think of you often.

My father was a wonderful man. We went through a lot together and I miss him very much. I appreciate all that Mel and her family did for him. I know I wasn't around much, but I did love him and it is very hard to realize that he is gone. Thank you all for your kind words. I know he is looking down smiling at all of us. I feel better knowing that he is up there looking out for me.

Jerry was a wonderful FRIEND and boss. I had the pleasure of working with Jerry when I lived on the hill. After the restaurant closed we continued to hang out and have fun. I didn't get the opportunity to see him and Mel when they moved to Florida, but we continued to talk via email. I will miss him very much.

I miss him. The memories of great times will run through my mind for as long as my memory remains. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and most of all friend. As I returned to Iraq I just wished that I could have spent more time with my grandpa.
He will be missed but always remembered.

Uncle Jerry as I knew him was my fathers brother. There was Mack, Jerry and Robert(my dad). Unfortunately the McCullys were not known for there constant contact with each other. But when we were all together what a great time it was for me as a young man learning about my extended family. I hope we will get together again soon.

Jerry was my Foster Brother, but my Brother in all sense. We were in each others lives for 56 years and always kept in touch with each other up until the time he joined our Mom and Dad and other Brother Robert in Heaven. A part of me left with Jerry, but the biggest part of him will always be with me, his loving and giving heart. I love you Jerry and thanks for being my Big Brother.

some mighty big shoes to help a

guidance. I will always miss him.

On my last visit in December, I sit with Jerry watching one of Jerry's favorite movies, "Babe" while Mel was cooking in the kitchen. It was such a great Sunday night. He made all of our lives more "fun."

Jerry was a wonderful friend. Ron and I will long remember our adventures with Jerry & Mel. We'll remember sunsets at the Tiki Bar, baseball games, going to the horse races, playing cribbage and poker, our trip to New Orleans and many other good times. Although we knew him only two years, our time together was very special and we are fortunate to have shared a portion of Jerry's life.
Love,
Ron & Joy

This was my Uncle Jerry. He was the coolest relative I had. He was also the person I could talk to about anything. I will miss him dearly.
