GLENN THOMAS HAGGAN D.D.S.

Glenn Thomas Haggan, DDS, longtime resident of Minnesota and Maryland, passed away at The Denver Hospice April 23, 2022 at the age of 74.

Glenn grew up in Minneapolis, graduated from St. Olaf College and obtained his dental degree from U of Minnesota. In 1984 he relocated to VA medical centers in Chicago, IL and in 1987 to Washington, DC until his retirement in 2013 as Chief of the Washington, DC, VA Dental Service.

In his leisure he enjoyed cruising on the Chesapeake Bay and volunteering at the West River Sailing Club. Glenn is survived by his wife, Marjorie, son Grant, daughter-in-law Lorelai, and granddaughter, Amara of Franktown, CO.

In his memory, donations can be made online to National Jewish Health (for Pulmonary Fibrosis research) or by mail: NJH, P.O. Box 17169, Denver, CO 80217-0169. No services are planned.

Dr. Haggan was my boss at Hennepin County Medical Center during my residency. He is a kind, caring, compassionate, and meticulous practitioner. We had great times and many delightful moments during that time and also some exceptional challenges. AIDS had just come on the scene and nobody knew what it was or how it was transmitted. It was known to have no cure and be 100% fatal to those who contracted it. We had the special privilege and of also having Dr. Myer Leonard and Dr. Tim Peterson working there as well, which made for a special work environment. Dr. Haggan tried to remain straight faced as Dr Peterson could be heard singing, "I am a dentist for the county..." to Glen Campbell's famous song, and while Dr Leonard was busy cracking a joke a minute keeping everyone in stitches. We especially enjoyed his theory of periodontal treatment, "if you can't keep an inch of tooth clean, let's see how well you can keep an inch and a half of tooth clean." Great times, great friends. A very exceptional moment in my life of which Dr Haggan played a central role, and to top it off, a fellow Ole.
My sincere condolences to his wonderful family,
Jim Gaasedelen
