GRETCHEN ELLIS
On Thursday, September 15, 2016, Gretchen Ellis of Fort Washington, MD. Loving wife of Kenneth Ellis; devoted mother of Kendall Ellis. She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Chambliss and Yvonne Taliferro; four brothers, Laurence Thomas Jr. (Julie), Earnest Thomas (Mary Ann), Reginald Thomas (Shirley) and Dwayne Thomas (Lael); mother-in-law, Eunice Ellis; a host of other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 22, at St. Stephens Baptist Church, 5757 Temple Hill Rd. Temple Hills, MD. 20748. from 11 am until time of funeral service 12 noon. Interment Zion Cemetery, Emporia, VA. Arrangements by Strickland Funeral Services.www.stircklanfuneralservices.com

I still remember Gretchen from Pepco. She was congenial with a beautiful smile. On the anniversary of Gretchen’s passing, may her beautiful memories be kept alive through her photos, writings, and conversations, and may Ken, her son, and the family find strength and healing through staying in touch with one another.

Brother Ellis I am so sorry to hear about Gretchen. I did not know that she was sick. She and my granddaughter Madison had a special bond that began when Madison attended Summer camp at SSBC that Summer. Because Madison was one of the early arrivals, she and Gretchen would walk around the perimeter of the parking lot. I always had an opportunity to speak with your wife during that time - either when I picked Madison up or dropped her off. She was sunshine!! Also when we were at SSBC, you both were so kind to me. I am so sorry. The world has lost an absolutely sweet, kind and beautiful woman. Gretchen was a rare jewel. We are praying for you.
