Herb is one of the aviation pioneers that I have proudly been associated with over my years while belonging to BPA and NAI. He joins the group with Chief Anderson, Roscoe Draper, Rev Charles Smallwood, Ed Gibbs and many more that I had the privilege to personally know and worked with over the years. His efforts along with the others may my life as exciting and enjoyable as it could be as I have spent more that 64 years in the aviation industry doing what they dreamed of. Thanks Herb and your colleagues for making my life so enjoyable, I couldn’t have done it if you and your colleagues had not paved the way.

This original Tuskegee Airman cared greatly about youth becoming aviators and leaders. Nearly every chance that he could, Mr. Herbert Jones came out to the flight school HJ Aviation at Potomac Airfield to encourage students, and he inspired many including myself to continue striving for our dreams and trusting God. He did this at age 96. I am honored to have known and served him and his legacy, and through him Col George London (USAF ret.) and many phenomenal others still teaching the next generation how to fly.

I feel very fortunate to have known Documented Original Tuskegee Airman Herbert H. Jones, Jr. He was such an easy-going, humble man with a loving, gentle, and giving spirit. He will be sorely missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. My sincere condolences to Mildred Nelson, Herb, and Rodney.

Along with his historical contributions to the Black Society, Mr. Jones was a great father figure and role model to me and other young men that grew up on U Street, N.W. and in the Black community as a whole!

HERBERT is my step-father. When my mother (Mildred) introduced us we just smiled & it was special. The day they married (Him,Mom,Al & myself & the pastor) I knew that from that day on I had a very special person in my life. The memories that I have of us will never fade. HERBERT," I SHALL SEE YOU IN THE SKY, YOUR FAVORITE PLACE".
