Hubert Hoffman Memoriam

IN MEMORIAM

N. HOFFMAN, JR.

February 26, 1920

June 15, 2002

Hubert N. Hoffman, Jr. of Arlington, VA, died of prostate cancer on June 15, 2002. Mr. Hoffman was a prominent Alexandria business- man who owned Hoffman Management Company. He also had owned a dry cleaning business and enjoyed a highly successful insurance career.

Mr. Hoffman provided substantial financial support to several community-based organi- zations, including his biggest charitable beneficiary - INOVA Alexandria Hospital. In 1996, he made a $1 million gift to help expand INOVA Alexandria Hospital's emergency department in recognition of the work that the hospital and several key physicians did to save his son's life. This gift was the largest single donation to INOVA at that time.

Over the past three years, his company has served as the underwriter of the Walk to Fight Breast Cancer, which also benefits INOVA Alexandria Hospital by funding mammograms for women-in-need.

We mourn the passing of a key member of the community who made many significant acts of philanthropy.

Mr. Hoffman is survived by his wife, Peggy Hoffman; five children, Hubert N. (Jay) Hoffman, III, Nancy Connor, Holly Nolting, Thomas Hoffman and Timothy Hoffman; 10 grand- children and four great-grandchildren.

We all love and miss you very much. It's so lonely without you,

Love you always,

Peg
