My first memory of Ida Ruben was a speech she gave at GEICO in support of their grassroots lobbying efforts. Later, I met her again as she was my friend Claire's mother-in-law. She was a force to be reckoned with! She tasked me (a bridesmaid at Scott and Claire's wedding) to sew some tiny loose sequins onto the inner sleeve of her dress. I smile when I think of that day! My condolences to the family, may her memory be a blessing.

Ida and Judge Ruben have always held a special place in my heart ever since 1983 when I was the Judge's first law clerk. Several years later they officiated/attended my wedding. I am so sorry for your loss.

My heartfelt condolences to the Ruben family. A first cousin once removed (her father, Sol, and my grandfather, Morris Gass, were brothers), I have known and loved Ida all my life. While our visits in later life were fewer, I fondly remember visiting her often as a child. I remember sitting on her basement floor when she recruited me to stuff envelopes (along with her son, Garry) when her husband Lennie ran for politial office. Not long afterwards, her own political career took off while Lennie became a well-respected judge. Lennie probaby would have said that Ida was the better-half of that power-couple. She was a smart, beautiful and charming individual who I'm so lucky to have known and so proud to call my cousin. I will truly miss her. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
