IRVING TRANEN Obituary


IRVING N. TRANEN  
On Tuesday, September 19, 2017 of Rockville, MD. Beloved husband of the late Peggy Tranen and the late Jeanne Tranen; devoted father of Morris (Sondra) Tranen and Beth Tranen. Loving grandfather of Naomi Haberman, Rachel Levey, Pnina Tranen, and Joshua Tranen; and four great-grandsons. A native Washingtonian, Irving received his law degree from Georgetown University and was a champion of civil rights, working in the US Department of Justice and later as Administrative Law Judge at the Maryland Human Relations Commission. Irving continued working in labor arbitration into his 90's.  Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 20 at noon at Judean Chapel, 16225 Batchellors Forest Rd., Olney, MD, with interment to follow at Judean Memorial Gardens. Shiva will be held on Wednesday afternoon at the home of Rachel and Brian Levey. Contributions may be made to the charity of your choicewww.sagelbloomfield.com

Irv was a lovely man in every way. Passionate about Judaism, human rights and family. He was possessed of a wry sense of humor and loved to share a good story. We will miss him terribly.
