JAMES BUNN Obituary
JAMES EDWARD BUNN (Age 71)
Of Washington, DC, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 1, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Linda Marie Bunn; brother, Charles "Little" Bunn and sister, Janet Arrington. A devoted father, he leaves to cherish his memory, Dionne Byers, Sheila Bunn, James Bunn II, and Rodney Bunn. He was a loving brother to David Bunn, Paulette Key and Jocelyn Mack. He was a champion for Ward 8. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by a celebration of his life on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 10 a.m. (viewing at 9 a.m.) Both services will be held at Matthews Memorial Baptist Church, 2616 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE, Washington, DC. Mr. Bunn was like a dad to me. Meeting him thru his son JB, God has called home an extraordinary man. You always were so outgoing and encouraging even as I felt all hope was gone. You always believed in me. To the Bunn family my prayers are with you as you travel thru each day stay encouraged and God blesd.

I just learned of Mr. Bunn's passing while reading the Aug 15th edition of the Washington Informer yesterday and was shocked. I met Mr. Bunn in December 2012 while doing a site visit for DOES Project Empowerment Participant assigned to his job site and we sat and talked for what it seemd like hours. As a native Washingtonian and life long Ward 8 resident I have seen the Bunn Buildings so it seems forever through my travels through SE so to be able to put a name to the face was a pleasant surprise. What a champion he was for the Ward 8 community and what a sage of advice he was for me. His life force was huge and he shall be missed.
