James Nugent Obituary

NUGENT JAMES NUGENT "Earl the Pearl" On Sunday, August 10, 2008, JAMES "EARL the PEARL" NUGENT was called home to be with God. He was a well known Oldies but Goodies DJ in the Washington Metropolitan area and was a retiree from the Dept. of Interior. He is survived by the love of his life, Rosie Lee Nugent; his children, James Jr., Shirleta, Gary, Rhenda, Wade, Sherrell, Eric and Anthony; two sisters; one brother; three sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law; 29 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Visitation Friday, August 15, 6 to 9 p.m. at J.B. JENKINS FUNERAL HOME, 7474 Landover Rd., Landover, MD and Saturday, August 16, 9 a.m. until time service 10:30 a.m. at Second New St. Paul Baptist Church, 2400 Franklin St., NE.

Hey Grandpa,
I have been written some more music and my band is doing very well. You know me, trying to follow in your musical footsteps. Our cd should be coming out in feb or march and its mostly dedicated to you. i know you promised you 'll be there when my band get that award. Don't worry i know you well be there. Also thank for helping me write lyrics.
i'll miss you grandpa but we will definitely have and Grandfather and Grandson concert in Heaven someday.

Daddy it was nice talking to you. I'm glad that you reveal yourself to me on a regular basis. I'm not surprised considering the close relationship we have always had. It is priviledge to hear your voice. You are still giving out orders and Goose and I are following your instructions as you requested. You are funny though. I'm still laughing about what you are saying to me. It all make sense now and believe me, I know just how to handle things. I love you and always will. You are not gone just relocated. I carry you always in my heart.

Earl, I sure do miss the early mornings typying your cd covers and flyers for your next gig. That was my time with you and I will always remember how thankful you were when I finished them on time. You are missed in many ways and have touched so many people with your special laughter.

I will miss Earl the most on Monday mornings during the football season. He was a die-hard Dallas fan and I am a Redskins fan. Regardless if Dallas won or lost he would proudly wear his Cowboy appreal in the office. He knew that when he saw me that he was going to get a good argument/teased (especailly if the lost to us or in the play-offs).

Now that he has gone on to be with the Lord I guess he will be cheering for his Cowboys from heaven.

My prayers are with the Nugent family that their sorrow will find strength in the LORD.

Earl will be missed immensely! I could time his visits to my desk like clock work around 11:30 everyday!
I can still hear his famous line to me "Me and you"! (smile ) We all lost a very good friend and co-worker here at BNA Rockville! To the whole family, you have my deepest sympathy and condolences. Earl may you make your mark in Heaven as you did on Earth!

Today is the day that we took you to your resting place it was very peaceful and very beautiful and though it was those great things for you I really didn't want to leave you there. James Sr. "Earl The Pearl" will live on forever. When I first met him, he resembled my Father, the late Clifton T. Waters, Sr. He told me that I looked like one of his daughters.

When you walked into my Club, and told me, what you could do for my business, never did I, know that I had made a friend forever. You made me a better person.

You gave the group support and respect. Sometimes, you were a Father, never having problems telling me what you felt I needed to hear, good or bad. Your word was your bond, your were the energizer Bunny!! You told me what to do in my own joint. You helped me, my business, my group members in ways no words can ever express. Good times and bad you were true Blue.

The joy you expressed, when telling us about your childrens accomplishments, the great big smile you displayed the night you interduced us to your son. or when you would play "At Last" and say that my daughter. That man, was a happy and proud man.

The nicknames, you gave us, have stuck. Oh how I will miss your calls, just asking how things were going ment so much. I remember giving you the song from 1959, the group had recored, you said " what's that I want that, I like that", and you made it a hit all over again.

We, will miss you, Just walk around heven, swing that chain on your Zoot Suit, tapping that foot to the beat, as the angles, sit back and take a look at one "PEARL" of a guy.

Earl will be truly missed at BNA. Although I did not know Earl that long I will really miss his daily excursions around BNA. He would always come with a smile and jolly demeanor.
