James P. Lambert Obituary

James P. Lambert lifted the spirits of those around him, those who served with him said. He was never greedy, never selfish and always smiling. "I'm sure everyone else in the platoon felt the same way," one soldier wrote in a note read at Lambert's funeral. "He was the person you hung out with when you needed to be lifted." The 23-year-old from New Orleans, stationed at Fort Drum, was killed by an explosive May 25 in Fallujah, Iraq. Lambert moved often with his family as he was growing up, but he adapted well to each new environment, his mother said. "He was a very outgoing person, and everybody loved him," Rosemary Lambert said. Months earlier, the soldier opted to remain in Iraq after being hit in the neck by shrapnel. Recently married, he wanted to continue his college studies after military service. Survivors include his wife, Rachel, 19.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know James, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Psalm 23

1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3

He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!

My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

What can i say about you Jim....You were everything to me. I looked up to you in so many ways. It's hard to believe that you are gone. But sometimes when I'm watching a funny movie that we all used to watch together it makes me laugh and I think about how much fun we all had together. I could tell you anything. You were more like a dad to me than my own dad was. You always had EVERYONE laughing. I was never unhappy around you. When i think about all the good things you did for everyone that was in need i don't think of you as just an ordinary person, I think of you as an Angel. I think everybody agrees with me. I remember that time I was at a dance party in 5th grade and you had gotten a new tattoo and you and Rachel showed up right in the middle of it and everyone stoped dancing and ran over there to look. Everyone thought you were the coolest thing they had ever seen, and you were. I dont go one second or even one day without thinking of how much love and smiles you brought to our family. I had never seen Rachel so happy. Even though you were my "brother-in-law" to me you were my real brother,i didn't need people that I thought were my friends when i knew you were my best friend no matter what. You were my best friend in the whole world. I know that you will always be watching over mine and your family. We all miss you and wish you were here. But I know we will all see you again one day in heaven. Take care,

Your were Julia's other "big brother" and my "other" son.

I remember our fun road trips with Rach, Regan, etc. and your crazy singing and I just wish we would have had the time to do it again.

I know in my heart you have become Dustin's guardian angel and protected him through two deployments in Iraq. Thank you for that.

You remain in our thoughts now and forever.

Im Jim's brother and I just wanted to say that I miss him so much. Im in the Marine Corps and everyday is a constant reminder of my dear brother. I served in Iraq also last year, and I dreaded the day that my little brother might have to one day go. The thing about Jim is that he would never leave someone down or leave before his time was up. He gave everything he had all the time. What keeps me going is the memories and the good times that we both shared and it was a blessing for me to see my brother in January. Jim was one of a kind. Everyday that I go to work I think of him and strive to be like my brother. You are my inspiration Jim and I love you so much.

"Hey Jim its Julia I got this for you:

You were always so full of life

Always smiling and carefree

Life loved you being part of it

And I loved you being part of me

You could make anyone laugh

If they were having a bad day

No matter how sad I was

You could take the hurt away

Nothing could ever stop you

Or even make you fall

You were ready to take the on the world

Ready to do it all

But God decided he needed you

So from this world you left

But you took a piece of all of us

Our hearts are what you kept

Your seat is now empty

And its hard to see your face

But please always know this

No one will ever take your place

You left without a warning

Not even saying goodbye

And I can't seem to stop

Asking the question why

Nothing will ever be the same

The halls are empty without your laughter

But I know your up in heaven

Watching over us looking after

I didn't see this coming

It hit me by suprise

And when you left this world

A small part of me died

I remeber your pictures

When you were just a boy

And the last time I saw you

You were driving you pride and joy

Your smile could brighten anyones day

No matter what rthey were going through

And I know for the rest of my life

I will miss

YOU!!!

Happy Veterans Day Jim!

I miss you so much!

Jimmy,

I think of you so often. I thought about you on August 13th, and cried. That was the day you should have come home from the war.

This war has changed so many things - so many lives, hopes, dreams, plans for your family and many others.

I know that the angels are treating you really, really good in heaven, and that heaven is more beautiful than any of us can even imagine!

One day we will all meet there again, but until then, know you are not forgotten and your family and friends miss you dearly.

I just wanted you to know that.

For some reason this did not post initially. Some of you know that when we learned about Jimmy, I was trying to reach my son to tell him personally that Jim was gone. When I finally did reach him he was stunned and in shock as we all still are. His words for Rachel I consider private.

But, he also said, and told me not to mention it until the day of (June 6) that he and his fellow Marines would say a special prayer to remember a HERO and commrade, Jimmy.

Jimmy, touched many lives, and not a day goes by when I don't think of him.

To Rachel, and the rest of the Lambert family, since Dustin could not write this himself, he asked me to do so.

You, your family, and Jimmy are thought of in so many places. Near and far.

Love,

Jim was a very dear friend of mine. We had the same sense of humor and could look at each other, knowing what the other was thinking and just start laughing. We worked together between his military assignments. While he was deployed, we kept in touch via email. I would send him jokes and pictures and stuff to try to keep his spirits up. We would always talk about football season and how excited he was to be able to tailgate this year. We had a countdown for when he was coming home. I believe, the last I talked to him we were at like 125 days. I will really miss Jim (or Jimmy as they called him at Papa John's). He was a great person with a wonderful sense of humor and a very kind heart. Please accept my deepest condolenses and prayers during this time. I'm so sorry to hear this news. He was loved dearly and will be missed deeply.

My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family during this time. I was extremely moved by the story his wife told of Jim's courage and concern for his fallen friend. He is a true hero. Some live 100 years and never accomplish as much as he did. Remember it is the star that burns twice as bright that burns half as long. God Bless Jim, Rachel, and his entire family. Our country is stronger because of men like him and the families that supported him. We truly appreciate his service to our country.

Nancy, Rachel, Regan,

There are no words to take the hurt and pain away right now. There are not enough words to describe the immense pleasure all of you and Jim have given to me and my family.

I always considered Jim my "other son." None of us could have ever expected that this could happen to him. Not OUR Jim.

He was always so funny, adorable. and loveable. He was like a brother to Julia and she adored him. Remember C.R.I.T.S!

There is no greater sacrafice than one can give, than to give of themselves. Jim gave the ultimate sacrafice. His life.

Know he is looking down on us with that big beautiful smile. Know that one day when our time comes, we will all meet up with our angel...Jim. Know that he will never be forgotten. How can anyone forget such a wonderful person as Jim? They can't.

He has touched us all for the rest of our lives.

God Bless all of you. May time help ease your sorrow a little more each and every day. We are here for you now and always.

With all our love,

Phyllis, Dustin, Julia, and Bob ***
