Janis Weiner Obituary

WEINER JANIS RONA WEINER Passed away peacefully in her home in North Miami FL, November 4, 2008. Janis is survived by her sons, Marc (Brigid) and Keith Slavin. She was predeceased by Keith‘s twin brother, Brian. She was the stepmother to Barbara Wyner and Jan (Steve) Zivolich; cherished grandmother of Allison and Alex Slavin, Coley O‘Brien, Alyssa and Jason Lory and Hana Zivolich. Janis was the sister of Sandra (Robert) Edenbaum and Irwin (Ginny) Edlavitch; and aunt to Paul Robin Harris, Paul Edenbaum and Gail Schwartz. Janis was a native of Washington, DC, and the baby daughter of Hilda and Michael Edlavitch. When Janis lost he first husband, Alan Slavin, in an airplane crash April 15, 1967, she took her three small boys, less than 10 years old and decided to move to Miami and start a new life. There she met her second husband, Harold H. Weiner. Harold had two daughters from a previous marriage, Barbara and Jan. Together they built a new house in Keystone Point and raised her three boys whom she cherished more than anything on earth. Janis and Harold loved the warm weather and their boating friends until Harold passed away in 1995. Janis was well known to all of her friends and family for her free and fun spirit. Her warm and infectious personality was who she was and this was her gift in life. Janis would always be the first one to point out the obvious and tell it the way it is when people did not know what to say. She was just fun to be around as her friends would always say. Janis requested a simple graveside service which will be held 1:30 p.m., Friday November 7 at King David Memorial, Falls Church, VA. Afterwards, Brigid and Marc ask for family and friends to come to their home to remember their mother. Any contributions may be made to your favorite charity.

Dear Keith and Marc;
Your Mom was a lovely lady. Always had a smile on her face and loved to say hi to our kids. Great neighbor who will be remembered for her unconditional love to both of you and outgoing fun-loving personality. Hashem will bless her soul.

Mark & Brigid.

I'm so sorry to learn about your mother's death. I certainly have fond memories of Janis, her laugh and always "shooting straight from the hip". I even remember being the flower girl at her wedding to your father, Marc.

I hope your fond memories will fill your hearts and minds and help to ease the pain of your loss.
