Retired CIA Operations Officer
Jerard Max Paden died at home in the presence of his loved ones on June 4, 2006 after a prolonged illness.
Jerard Paden, son to two Oklahoma teachers, John Malcolm and Venus Tempe Paden, was born December 14, 1933 in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Classen High School in 1952. He received scholarships to and later graduated from Yale University in 1955. After college, he served in the US Army's Counter Intelligence Corps. Following his Army tour, he had a challenging career as an operations officer in the CIA's Directorate of Operations. There were multiple tours of increasing responsibility with overseas postings to Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia and Canada. He was awarded the Career Intelligence Medal. After retiring to Warrenton, Virginia in 1985, he pursued his studies of foreign languages, genealogy, gardening and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ava Paden of Catlett, VA; one daughter, Lisa Weber of Warrenton, VA; two sons, Jeffrey Paden of Mt. Airy, MD and Devin Paden of Vienna, VA; and their respective spouses, Joseph Weber, Jr., Susan Paden, and Molly Brown; and seven grandchildren, Joey, Matthew, and Daniel Weber; and Jerard, Aaron and Phoebe Paden and Ben Cisse. He preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kay Ann Carpenter Boswell.
His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 16 at MOSER FUNERAL HOME, 233 Broadview Avenue, Warrenton, followed by a graveside service at Bright View Cemetery in Warrenton.
