Jessie Reid Obituary
JESSIE MELVIN REID JR.
Jessie Melvin Reid, Jr. 75 of Washington, DC transitioned to his eternal life in heaven on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 having bravely fought two courageous battles with cancer. He was born June 14, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio, resided in Southeast DC and along the way made himself at home in several different states on his path to the Nation's Capitol. He grew up in historic Lucy Depp Park in Powell, OH graduated from Dublin City Schools in Dublin, Ohio, and was educated at The Ohio State University.
Mel attended Bethany Presbyterian Church in Columbus where he was baptized in his youth and in tandem, he became an accomplished pianist having been a student of the Vincent Walters Music Academy. Mel's memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, in the sanctuary of Stewart Funeral Home, 4001 Benning Road, NE, Washington, DC 20019. The service will be live www.stewartfuneralhome.com at 11 a.m. An additional obituary will appear on the Stewart website. Mel's wishes were to be cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Morgan State University Scholarship Fund, P.O Box 64261, Baltimore, MD 21264.

I had so many laughs with Mel during our careers. He was one of the nicest together person I´ve ever met. I´m saddened that he´s gone, but I´m glad that we´ve met. He will always be one of the best human beings I´ve ever met in my life. May he rest in peace!

I remember Mel. Missed him when he retired. I remember him Shari his stories after his Alaska trips. Loved all of us going to lunch together with Genty, both Toni´s, Bill and Terry. The best days of working with the NPS! Very sorrowful for this day. Praying for the family. Just know that I appreciated his guidance and friendship.
