JOAN SCHWARZ Obituary

Joan Rachel Metsch Schwarz  June 30, 1944 - April 24, 2021
Joan passed away unexpectedly from a stroke after a multi-year battle with a variety of illnesses which she fought up until the end. Born in Bronx, NY, a graduate of Martin Van Buren High School (62), Queens College (66) and Hunter College School of Social Work (71), Joan spent her professional career in many arenas after moving with her husband to Washington, DC in 1971. Joan was a safety net and sounding board for her friends and a constant advocate for the elderly and disadvantaged.  Joan was the daughter of Lester Moore and Sybil Janet Popper Metsch (deceased), sister of David Daniel (Kathy Beck) Metsch (deceased), wife of Joseph Jacques Schwarz for 53 years, mother of Emily Margaret Louise (Brian Jared) and Daniel Raymond Gabriel (Laure Isabelle), grandmother of Sebastian Schwarz, Annie and Jacob Newmark, and aunt of Sarah Estelle Metsch of Denver, CO.
