Joan Ward Obituary

ward Joan L. Ward (Age 65) Of Frankford, DE formerly of Brandywine, MD, passed away Sunday November 11, 2007 at her home. She was born in Washington, DC daughter of the late, Morris and Velva (Thompson) Riley. Joan worked at the Police Academy of Forestville, MD, as Secretary to the Captain, retiring after 10 years of service. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed bingo, music, taking cruises, playing games, and corresponding with her friends. Joan also loved seafood, especially crabs. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Douglas J. Ward, Sr; children, Douglas J. Ward , Jr, and his fiance Susan Karson of Berlin, MD, Cathy I. Johnson and her husband Curtis of Brandywine, MD, Wendy M. Geist and her husband Bill of Bear, DE.; two sisters, Gail Sines of Frankford, DE, Debbie Riley of Monks Corner, SC; two grandchildren, Curtis Johnson, Jr, and Randy Johnson. She will be missed by three grand pets, Sasha, Charlotte, and Hudini. A memorial service will be held Thursday November 15, 2007, 7 p.m. at the Ocean View chapel of Melson Funeral Services on West Ave., Ocean View, DE, where friends may call after 6:30 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to, Delaware Hospice, Southern Division, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE. 19947.
