I worked for Jack and Sully back in the early 1970's. They taught me how to fix things, but taught me the work ethic that's gotten me through life. I'm a better person today, from the time I worked at Belgard Engineering. My condolences to the family for Jack will be missed.

I'm so sorry to hear of Jack's passing. I used to go with my dad Frank Caherty to Belgard Engineering to chat when I was little. Like my dad, he was a really cool guy. I bought my first car from Jack, 1974 Duster that used to be a C&P Telephone company car that went "ding ding ding" when it was in reverse. Jack swore he didn't know how to disengage the dinger, but I think he liked to chuckle at me whenever he heard it. After my dad passed away, I would occassionaly stop in to say hi and to have work done on my subsequent cars. Jack was alot like my dad- tough but really a nice guy who you always knew was going to tell you like it was. I bet there are alot of people who the family isn't aware of who really admired Jack Belgard, and I hope there is some comfort (and chuckling) in knowing that he will be remembered fondly by many people.

I learned some of the most valuable lessons of my life while listening to my Dad and Jack BS after-hours (and in later years, during working hours) at Belgard Engineering. It may sound funny, but I really did grow up in that shop. I'll never forget how Jack used to grab me by the arm and pull me closer to share one of these golden nuggets -- "don't turn your nose up at a free beer" and "never run to the outside of the corner" are two that come immediately to mind.
When I graduated from UM in 1991, about a year after my Dad had passed away, Jack grabbed me by the arm and said, "Patrick, your Dad was always proud of you. And I'm proud of you, too." I will never forget "Old Man" Belgard, and I'm a better man for having known him.

I filled John and Mary's Rx's in Clarksville. I have gotten to know him over the last few years and will cherish his memory forever. He reminded me of my own father of which I am very close. He truly was a special person. He always would say to me "I'm so glad you got to see me". To Johns family I want to say "I AM glad I got to know John". My deepest sympathies to the entire Belgard family. Annette W.

To Grammie and family, Jack was a great teacher, hard taskmaster, and Dick enjoyed working for him all those years. May your memories give you comfort at this difficult time and in the days ahead. We extend our deepest sympathy to you all.

Grammie and family,
I will truly miss Grandad as he, like you all, always treated me as one of the family. I will cherish the many fond memories of vacations together to the lake and outer banks as well as family gatherings & holidays spent with you all. I will miss his good-natured joking around. He was a special person. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. ~ Andrea Bruce-Smith
